Hi.
I dont really know anything about gopros other than they seem very expensive and my 7 yr old really wants one.
A friend just spent 400 pounds on one which seems what they cost but there's plenty of second hand ones around. Do these make good second hand buys? What models are now dated beyond use or are they all still useable.

I know there's some cheaper cameras on the market. Would these be a safer bet and if so which ones are good quality. I like the go pro for all the mounting accesories available.

Have a look at a Gitup Git2? I've had one fir a while, and it does the job at about a quarter of the price of a "proper" GoPro.

Depends what he wants it for filming really.

Ive just checked these out and they seem to get great reviews and certainly have the features we need.

I use an Akaso action cam on my aeroplane. GoPro is better, but then it costs ten times as much.

I bought a second hand go pro Hero 4 for around £100 and it's fine for recording footage in my race car, I went for the 4 as you can add a battery pack to extend the recording time.

Other option is something like an SJ4000 which are pretty cheap on ebay, I had one before my Go Pro and it's lasted a few years with no real issues.

Hi
Thanks for your replies. I ended up getting him a Gitup 2. Super cheap at £60 delivered so happy with the quality and price. I can't however get the gitup app to find the videos on the camera. Should I persevere with that or is there a more general editing app i can get on a smartphone or amazon fire. I'm completely new to all this so any advice about getting video off the camera and what to do with them much appreciated.
