Bitcoin mining is currently using about 13GW according to Cambridge Uni, about 40% of the current GB national demand. If you look at their map of where mining is taking place, you can see that the areas of highest mining are in China and the USA, with the most European mining done in German.
Assuming that meant to say Germany I find that very hard to believe. Electricity prices in Germany would make it quite uneconomic to do that.
Well having looked at their maps, it actually says: "3.06% * * To our knowledge, there is little evidence of large mining operations in Germany that would justify this figure. Germany’s share is likely significantly inflated due to redirected IP addresses via the use of VPN or proxy services."

So you clearly can't draw much in the way of a conclusion about what the location shown on the map means for the energy source used for mining.

Again blanketing all crypto projects just because you see no value in Bitcoin just sums you up, why don't you actually go look at some projects other than just think it is all a big pyrmid scheme. Also if it is a big pyrmid scheme i would rather be in at the start and make money rather than getting in last... but hey
What on earth makes you think that you are 'in at the start'? biggrin

The smart money has already been made and has long since sold out, it's just people scrabbling around trying to emulate them now.

Oh well, hope you don't 'loose' too much money.
When did the smart money being made, end?

Good share Gary, thanks. A couple of people in this thread will be salivating with glee when they see that. Get ready for another 10 pages.

He generally does some good videos and has been quite sceptical about Tether in the past.

We've been talking about the house of cards for years but it has stayed standing a lot longer than people expected - much to their disappointment.

nothing new though, people know how bad tether is, but accept it as it directly increases BTC price by 10 times at the least.

Why do you think that people will be 'salivating with glee'?

Fairly obvious to outsiders looking in. There are a handful of regular commenters here who have no interest in crypto but take great delight in crawling out from under their respective bridges whenever the crypto markets take a bath to say "TOLD YOU SO!!!!!!!!! IT'S GOING TO ZERO!!!! nO iNtRiNsIc VaLuE!!!!! tUlIPs!!!!!!!" and so Tether collapsing would be like all their birthday's and christmas's coming at once.

No. Even looking further back in the thread to randomly selected page numbers I see you and a couple of hours banging the same drum every few pages.

Never had more than £500 in Cardano. Had a lot in LTC, ETH, BCH, BTC and LINK a couple of years ago, and did very well from BNB, MATIC and Safemoon but all those are sold now and I've been purely in DeFi degen stuff for some time, except what I need in ETH, BNB, AVAX and MATIC to trade with. I sold at a considerable loss with LTC (thanks JRNY.. ) but would have been even worse now if I'd held onto it. Same story with LINK too. Lesson learned : don't trust the opinion of random youtubers with vested interests.

Add Chainlink, XRP, PolkaDot or any of the "Google are going to use it honest, I know a guy who works in their top secret crypto team" stcoins that are hyped to hell, and then eventually fizzle out to be worth nothing.

Surprised about Cardano though, after all they did have Gene Simmons from Kiss saying "The Kiss bassist and frontman has stated that he believes in cardano thanks to its affordability compared with other cryptocurrencies, "

Well that is all that matters then, affordability compared to all the other cryptos.

All of it is a load of old ste.
