Has everyone started enjoying retirement and given up posting. It's suddenly gone all quiet. It's not even sunny smile

GT3 The period features in an Edwardian place sound lovely. I do hope the running costs don't keep you from handing back the work pass.

Yes, to the first question hehe

Well….back from our two month epic….started to write the book (I have over 20k words from my Find Penguins daily report I made, just need to batter them into some shape!), I am sure you are all eagerly awaiting that to appear on kindle!

Donington on the previous weekend was a blast (thanks to the IM folk here on PH!) - even went round the track 3 times on an old London bus….seemed lost, on its way to Marble Arch, held off the race cars for quite a while….
A preview walk up the Elizabeth Tower to admire Big Ben & stand behind the number VI on the big clock faces was a gem of a day out, highly recommended thumbup
Fine BBQ last weekend catching up with friends and getting super Smokey with the fire bowl later…
Riverside festival for a beer and some good vibes on Sunday….
Tree trimming at MILs yesterday (still on the market, nothing much moving: well done to GT3, might be the only sales this year, I feel!).
EV MOT today….comedy tomorrow night at local microbrewery….it’s all go!

Over & out!

Hi Scot I was thinking this morning that the thread had gone quiet !

The house isn’t enormous and has been recently renovated so won’t cost a fortune now . Super happy with the house just stressing over it going through . Always something to worry about !

Work pass will be handed in end of March next year now and gives my daughter a chance to settle into uni ( she starts her A levels today yikes) so more internal stress.

This month will be about her naturally so that’s the current focus.

Had survey carried out on our home y’day for our buyers and am awaiting our sellers to appoint a solicitor then I’ll book the survey .

Hope all is well everyone

You are jesting re the sunny bit, we are into week 3 of the stuff down south and will continue to stay down in Cornwall for a few more weeks hopefully. Although we did have 4 nights in Dubrovnik just when the sunshine started. cloud9

Well since returning from Barbados two weeks ago I've done nothing much but gardening. Going away is great but whilst away apparently there was a couple of weeks of warm wet weather and everything went wild. With the garden now in check this morning I'm going to roll the Lagonda out of the garage and see what's going on with the water leak that occurred in the cold weather before Christmas. Fingers crossed it's just a loose Jubilee clip or a split hose, not a burst radiator or worse a cracked block! No rush, just finishing my 2nd cup of tea then out to the garage. That's the beauty of being retired, there's no rush.

Sat on a sun bed (listening to Springsteen) in Crete after a short tour of the northern coast- wine and sardines coming up for lunch.
Mid week flights so cheaper and very good value- don’t need to pay over €70 for some fantastic accommodation.

Just need OldSkoolRS now to drop back in with the finished pics of the RS and all is right in the world again. Well as long as we don't watch the news, read the press etc!!

Now into week 4 of recovery from my right leg total knee replacement surgery, so this means that I've been nowhere, done nuthin'....except to/from hospital to see the physio three times and the surgeon once, so nothing to report really.

Weather has been strange. Chilly cloudy mornings, warm blue skies afternoons. Good for the newly laid front lawns that the wife is watering every other day. Our neighbour does the mowing.

Got a lunch date with some retired mates on 20th June. Really looking forward to being out then....maybe I'll be allowed alcohol too for the first time in seven weeks!

Also looking forward to being allowed back driving, probably end of June too.

Don't worry...I won't kill the thread just yet. biggrin

I've just been sorting out a few financial things so have been a bit preoccupied with that, seemed to have coincided with the rates being better than they were when I first hoped to get Probate through. Between that and being able to reduce our DD with Octopus due to the solar I've now hit the point where my post bills income is almost where it was when I was working, so it's been worth the effort and research, plus help from here of course. beer

I've been making the most of the sunny weather, or at least the sunny afternoons getting out for walks and doing Ka stuff in the dull mornings; got some paint arriving today, so will re-do the wheel arch I aersolled last year and get an advert up. Still on the search for a drummer as the last one turned out to be a beginner that is looking for a band and we need someone more experienced to play at paid gigs. Hoping we can get that sorted and then get back into proper rehearsals and eventually gigs again as I miss it.

Off out to look for some better suitcases ready for our next holiday and lunch out at a Lebanese place, which makes a nice change. Sorry for not letting you all know I'm still enjoying it. winkbiggrin

EDIT: Missed out Leaper; hope you're back driving again soon, get well soon. beer

Been away for the whole of May in Asia with my parents (father 85 this year). Kids joined midway so three generations away at the same time. Learnt that the Mrs can only tolerate her in-laws up to a point, but good enough to upgrade them (and us) to business class on the return journey. She has vowed not to go long haul economy in future, but a stopover break somewhere should be fine.

Back now trying to get tradesmen to quote for a collapsed fence.

This morning sorted out ISA and SIPP subscriptions for this tax year.

Got the daughter and grandkids over for the week (6&8) it's great watching the kids playing in the pool, and not realising they are learning to swim. Went out for a Chinese buffet with them last night and got home around 10pm. The kids decided to go back in the pool till around midnight.
The wife, daughter and kids have gone to the water park today, I'm left here to tidy up outside and prep the bbq for later.
I'm knackered after 2 daysbiggrin

Well the update on the Lagonda is that I can find absolutely nothing wrong. Been for a test drive, got it up to temp but no leaks. I'm stumped as to why there was several pints of water on the garage floor back at Xmas but I'll not complain!
Cue gratuitous photo...

Now that is a classic. You do need a coaster under the tea (or coffee)!!

My excuse has been busy with events on the weekend (marshalling for Hero-ERA and driver training at Milbrook with my eldest) and now sorting out for Le Mans later in the week. But first a trip out with my wife to get some bonus points and allow me to do the other things…..

No time for posting here - or work!

That's good news Rich and I have to confess that when you said 'Lagonda' I instantly thought of the 80s model with a pointy bonnet and very square lines for some reason. Yours looks lovely though and even better that nothing like a cracked block or similar. smile

Nice meal out after a brief wander round Reading to look at suitcases. Nothing bought (holiday is months away yet) but Mrs OS seems to have decided what she wants. I don't think I can fit my travel guitar in even the biggest case they sell, so plan B is to dismantle it and take a screwdriver in the case so I can put the neck back on once we've arrived on holiday. Easy enough to do.

Paint arrived for the Ka while we were out and looks like a decent match. I'll blend in using a mix of clear and base coat once I've done the initial repair section. It probably won't add any value to the car, though might give buyers less ammo to knock the price down and it's more a technical challenge for me as I usually do solid colours, so blending metallic is harder. I plan to do some localised repairs on the (black) RS so it's all good practice for me. smile

Son in law has got his MCS approval, so we should be able to get export sorted for our solar soon as well.
