Tell me more. Or do you mean their Life Assurance business?
I just did a quick check on t'internet and what came back was,
"In 2019, Legal & General agreed the sale of its General Insurance division, Legal & General Insurance, to Allianz Insurance."
"In 2025, Legal & General announced the sale of its U.S. general insurance subsidiary to Meiji Yasuda for $2.3 billion."
Always happy to be corrected if this is not correct and complete.
The do still offer some insurance products - things life, critical illness and income protection.I just did a quick check on t'internet and what came back was,

A pretty limited range though.

The term Life Assurance was used to refer to products that cover the insured’s entire life and so were guaranteed to payout. And Life Insurance meant products which weren’t guaranteed to payout.
I think that over the end of the 20th century this distinction has been lost and Life Insurance & Life Assurance have been interchangeably used to describe both of the above. With Life Insurance being more commonly used.
Now Life Insurance is almost always used - I work in the industry and have worked at L&G.
L&G still sell term insurance/assurance products which would be Life Insurance, not Life Assurance, under the old definitions.
L&G’s most recent Solvency & Financial Condition Report uses the term “Life Insurance”:
https://group.legalandgeneral.com/asset/49851f/glo...
[It’s worth noting that L&G write most of their life insurance business in their “Legal And General Assurance Society subsidiary suggesting that usage of the word assurance has changed to insurance.]
The Prudential Regulation Authority, who regulate L&G’s insurance business use the term Insurance for life insurance business.
The Institute and Faculty of Actuaries mostly uses the term “Life Insurance”, but do have an annual “Current Issues in Life Assurance” conference which covers both the old definitions of Life Assurance & Life Insurance.
There are may be some older technical regulations/guidance that are still used and refer the old definitions of Life Assurance & Insurance.
I used the expression to assist casual readers in understanding the difference between Life Insurance (Assurance) and Car Insurance. It really is as simple as that.
Next week: insure vs ensure. Here's a sneak preview from Miriam Webster,
"Do you find yourself jolted awake in the middle of the night, seized with the paralyzing dread that you may have used either ensure, insure, or assure when one of the others was called for, when writing a letter to a very important person? We hope not, as it isn't really worth losing sleep over (but good on you for still writing letters). Furthermore, not only is there a good chance your reader also confuses these three words, but there are many circumstances in which they are in fact interchangeable."

You asked to be corrected if what you stated wasn't correct and complete.
They offer products other than life insurance, which in itself would be seen as a separate type of product to life assurance.
It's all on their website for anyone interested.
You are correct in that they don't offer a comprehensive selection of general insurance products anymore.

You asked me to tell you more about L&G’s insurance business and I did. And I also explained why I didn’t mean Life Assurance, which you also asked about.Next week: insure vs ensure. Here's a sneak preview from Miriam Webster,

Life Assurance is a term that hasn’t really been used this century, so probably not useful as an explanation to a casual reader of the difference between General and Life Insurance.
You did state that you were happy to be corrected, so hopefully this clarifies for you that L&G aren’t just an asset manager and do have insurance business.
Not sure what your waffle about Miriam Webster is all about.

Not so fast!
Maybe not so but something made the bond markets rally and I can't see that it was economic data hence thought an Iran deal was as good as done. My algorithm decided it was a good buying opportunity of eurusd.

That s the green light the markets needed to smash through ATHs... I don t think there can be anything left to stop this S&P train!
I wouldn't be so sure.
Iran is saying no agreement has been finalised with the US. Iran and Oman have to decide the management of Hormuz.

I just strap in for the ride and try make some money out of it.
I'll save that conversation for NP&E

All the US has done is let Iran find out they have an economic weapon in shutting down the straight of hormuz. Blown up some old boats and some planes that were no threat and had a "toilet accident" ie prized aircraft carrier hit by a drone chae off the pride of their military power. And increased.oil prices for everyone. All under the eventual guise of wanting iran to neve have nuclear capability.... oh and now higher oil prices for everyone.
That's better than Iran having atomic weapons. Then you'd really see the Middle East light up.mikeiow said:

Do you seriously think what Trump has put everyone through makes Iran any further from them having nuclear weapons? It s in total nonsense & bluster from the tangerine turd.
The deaths and increased prices for everyone have been for absolutely nothing.
The incompetence of the current US administration is dumbfounding.
