Anyone here ever won anything substantial?

Say over 20k or know of anyone who's won something in that order?
The silence is deafening
172 pages on this thread and no one has won anything substantial or even knows of someone who's won a substantial amount.

Makes you think does it not?

Some might not want to broadcast that they've won a large amount.

On the other hand, I know four people who hold the full amount and a few more who have several thousand invested and they all tell me they've never won a large sum.

My sister did once win £1000.

I don't subscribe to that theory, I personally know 3 people (two won a million and one who won 4.5 ish) who have won the lottery it's only been going about 20 years, I've never heard of ANYONE winning a substantial amount from premium bonds.

There's quite a few in here who hold a chunky sum in bonds yet no-one is coming fwd to admit to it (why wouldn't they this being quite anonymous)

I guess some wouldn't mind sharing on here if they'd won a large prize. I haven't read all 172 pages, but I infer from your post that no-one has said they've won anything big, either the million or other high value prize.

I wouldn't go public with a lottery win, but on the other hand, is it something you could keep from people you know (unless you've already got a lot of money)?

I once read a wild theory that the top prizes go to people who the government want to pay off.

Of 172 pages how many unique contributors are actually posting...?

I think your sample size is a little small to be drawing any conclusions.

Well, one factor is the Premium Bonds are only drawn once a month, so roughly 756 draws since it started. Whereas the Lottery is twice a week so there would have been around 2652 draws since it started.

If you are referring to Premium Bonds, don't forget you still have your money.

National lottery - your stake money is lost.

That wasn't the point I was making. Given the odds of winning a big prize, I'm not sure it should come as a surprise that no-one on this thread has won anything material.

Biggest I've ever had is £1,000. Which I don't consider to be big.
That's the largest win I've had, too. It's better than a poke in the eye, but sadly (or fortunately) not life-changing. I'm not sure I'd say if I'd won a big prize, though I don't know why not, it's not like anyone knows who I am. Maybe I'd create a new account like those posters do when they've got an embarrassing question to ask.

Decided to make a purchase for the first time, I'm £3000 off the limit so ticked the box to pay winnings back in.
I'm expecting 1.5% return, I'll keep this thread posted if I get any better returns...

The £5k+ results are up....

Not a bad return on £5k even if she did have to wait 10yrs for it.

I wonder if the £1m winners have already had the "Agent Million" visit by the time the info on the two winners is put online?
