I purchased £5k in August, parents told me someone bought me some when I was born, I sent a letter in a few weeks back with old addresses etc to be told that my signature doesn't match my aunties from 1979 and now need someone to witness mine.
Seems a lot of hassle for what is probably £1 bond!
Here's s strange one, had a letter back with my lost bonds from the early 80's circa £50 in £5 bonds, and to my surprise £30 from 1953!! I didn't know premium bonds were around then, no one in the family have ever had them and the addresses weren't around in 1953, all very odd. Seems a lot of hassle for what is probably £1 bond!

In the circumstances, will you give the money to The Society For Fallen Women? The Mad Monk said:

I'm considering the £30 from the 50's as my "Covid grant" seeing as lots of other are holidaying on Rishi currently

Just let me correct that for you(Not to offend those in the awful position of being without work, being made redundant or excluded from support)

(Rishi is just the guy smiling on TV as he forks out another tranche of money without any responsibility, that people haven't even earned yet....

Anyone know when the results will be out on the App? The 1st of Nov is on Sunday. Guessing Monday sometime?
I hate it when it falls on a weekend, it's supposedly computerised so does the computer have weekends off?
It's not always the 1st. Next one is 3rd November.I hate it when it falls on a weekend, it's supposedly computerised so does the computer have weekends off?

I've asked NS&I why Ernie doesn't work weekends
[quote=NS&I]The prize draw itself actually takes place a few days before the end of the month so that we can make all the necessary checks to make sure his output is correct and truly random - this is verified every month by the Government Actuary's Department (GAD), and we're unable to release the results until they've given us the all clear.
Although ERNIE is automated at generating random Bond numbers, we still have a team of people hard at work, checking the results and preparing the prizes so that the results are ready to be released from the first working day of the month.
You can find more information about our ERNIEs, past and present, here: http://ow.ly/nmmd30rhjMV.

Weds isn't the first day of the month, but there you go.

I've had Premium Bonds since I was a toddler/child bought for myself and my brother too. I recall he won £25 in the 1980's but neither of us has seen a single win since. I've made sure my address was changed on them so they have updated info but surely one of us should have at least won a nominal sum or are they cancelled after a period of time? It just seems so unlikely that there has not been anything on any of them and I believe the value of them was in the hundred of pounds when bought in the late 1960's early 1970's. I have a long list of numbers at home for them.

Bonds are never cancelled and are always eligible for each draw until they are actively cashed in. My niece has had £100 worth of bonds for about 24 years, she has only ever won a single £25 prize in that time.
Which is about right. The notional - if that's the right word - rate of interest is about 1%. 1% on £100 is £1. Over 24 years that's um, £24, so a £25 prize is just about spot on.
