I'm fairly sure the answer is - No

But I thought I'd ask in case I'm wrong (google didn't find much)

I've built a new house on a corner plot and there is a letter box right outside my window is it possible to get it relocated as there are cars stopping to post letters all day

There is a spot 10m away where there was once a tree planted that's next to a substation so it wouldn't affect anyone else.

Whilst I'm tempted fire up the JCB I'm guessing there are huge fines for interfering with the mail.

I know it was there first and I'd be expecting to pay the cost.

Anyone had an experience with this ?

Can you write to the Royal Mail and ask them to move it a few metres in either direction? I suppose if you moved it and put it back very close to where it was - you might get away with it although it could be classed as criminal damage.

A mate has one in his garden wall and he moved it, albeit only a metre or so; he had the wall demolished and rebuilt a couple of months ago after the wall was damaged while leaping out in front of a car driven by an idiot. Phone up the RM, they probably have a dept. looking after this sort of thing.

I'd echo contacting RM. Don't be shocked if it's stupidly expensive. Remember you built creating the problem so there's no obligation on them to move it.

Write or phone the RM collecions planning manager (looking at your profile you are in Solihull so it's probably Birmingham Mail Centre) - It's many years since I left RM so I don't have the contacts now & I'm out of touch with prices but it used to be around £100-£200 to have a box moved. Alternatively a large truck could "accidentally" knock it over so they may move it as it's in a dangerous place ;-)

£200 - that's a bargain when compared to dealing with other 'utilities'.

Thought I'd update this...

Cost to move £2k

They blame the council for the cost saying they have to apply to them.

The Internet says to contact Royal Mail customer services and they will start the process off:

08457 740 740 or 01752 387112 if you dont want to pay the 0845 costs.

The 0845 costs will be the cheapest bit.

Perhaps the wall will have a nasty accident and fall over, necessitating it being rebuilt, like BIGDAI suggested.
