What are the current thoughts on garage flooring? In my old house I had Ecotile flooring and was really happy with it, but since originally purchasing (2014ish?) there is more choice in the market.

As I was happy with the ecotile I'm looking for similar (7mm textured surface). I don't want coin / checker, and I'm not bothered about visible joins as I'll be going for a single colour - my previous was black, but likely to go for a grey (or other) colour this time as black showed every speck of dirt. I need around 30sqm

From searches I have found the following do a smooth finish tile.

Versa-Tile - No Prices on their website

Garage Tile Shop - 28 sq/m

Garage Floors Direct - 27sq/m

Garage Pride - 34 - 38 sq/m depending on tile

Garage Floor Tile Company - 28.50 sq/m

Ecotile - No prices on website, but I think they are also the Garage Floor Tile Company

RTek - No prices on website

Does anyone have any comments (good or bad) about any of the tiles above, or does anyone have any other suggestions for companies I might have missed?
R-Tek July 2021

34m2 - £703.80
3 packs of edging ramp trim - £33.72
Delivery - £50.00
VAT - £157.50

TOTAL - £945.02

I bought before a price rise, but should give you a guide.

It is also worth not getting cheap slosh. The difference in opacity between diyshed cheapest bogof pail of milk, and a decent trade white is off the scale.

Given your painting grey sponge rather than freshening up an existing white ceiling, if I couldn't afford the good stuff all round, I would put the milk on my living room ceiling and the Leyland/McPhersonsEclipse/DuluxSupermatt on the garage.

<clip> I bought hard plastic puppy cage liners (approx 120cm x 70cm) as drip trays for any oily bits.
I use those trays you get in garden centres designed for grow-bags.
Cunning plans. I have a huge 1000mm sqaure one, big high sides. Nice for what I bought it for, but a bit wide l, not long enough, and far to high, to be used under a car.

Bonsai plant trays are very shallow - have them under some show bikes. Look good in gloss black.

Replying to my own thread.

I spoke to Garage Floor Tile company today and they confirmed that they are the same company as EcoTile and that they are the domestic retail arm of ecotile, Ecotile have a larger range of tiles for different applications but mainly sell to business/commercial now.

They also explained to me that the "packs" they sell are discounted, and I was told that they ship 4 extra tiles in each pack (eg the 27sq/m pack is actually 28sqm). I need 31sqm so decided to buy a pack + 3sq/m, the bonus was that after adding them to my basket on their website and entering the checkout process there was a 10% discount code available, so the order has been placed and I should get them delivered next week.

Ikea do shallow trays in various sizes. Cheap too smile

I wouldn’t use Supermatt on garage walls, or any walls for that matter. It marks incredibly easily, worse than anything I’ve used before. Great on new plaster ceilings though.

Going through this process right now, have ordered a black/red sample from Garage Floor Tile Company. I need 27 sq/m, 10% discount would be great.

Thanks for sharing - also in a similar place as per prior posts, will try your approach!

The discount code (FIRST70) was on their checkout page and I was just able to click it and get the 10% discount. Total cost for....

- 27sqm tile pack (inc 9 x ramps - 4.5m)
- 3sqm extra tiles
- 2 x extra ramps (I only need one, but they come in packs of 2)

Was £814.45 inc delivery

Thanks, will give them a call next week. Just did a proper measure and my garage is 5.2m X 5.4m so I need 28 sq/m but will play it safe and order a little extra with some extra ramp edges.
It's getting expensive as after some Sealey American Pro storage also.

i've just been looking too and have a similar garage size of 5.4 * 5.4 so tiles + ramps = 951 inc the 10% discount.

i'm tempted to get the moto tiles myself as the total is 996.00 then can get 10% off that so £896.

I have followed this thread for quite some time and found it very interesting, thank you to the contributors. At the same time it sent me off down various rabbit holes while I faf'd about on what to do and obtaining various samples.

Decided I'm going with the Garage Floor Tile Company with a Blue & Graphite combo'

My question to those with more experience than I;
I have an up and over door with a storm seal P seal, only because on very heavy downpours, I can get some water seeping under.
The tiles come with ramps and I'm not sure if;
a) I leave the P seal in place and place the ramps up to the P seal
b) Get rid of the P seal and let the ramps butt up to the garage door (perhaps with sealant to secure?)
c) Not use the ramp and trim the front edge of the tile to the P seal
d) ?

Any suggestions welcome

Funnily enough, I’ve been wondering how to figure this out on mine. I haven’t laid my tiles yet, and I haven’t fitted the door seal. Only difference is that my doors are barn style doors rather than up and over.

I was thinking of not using the ramp sections on the tiles, but instead cutting a square edge on the tile. Cutting the trailing edge of the door seal so it’s square and butting them up against each other. Door seal glued to the existing floor and then applying a sealant between the butt joint of the tile and door seal.

I haven’t decided if that’s the right solution yet, but that’s where I’m at. Be interested to hear other ideas also

I have ramps on my flooring (Flexitile). I don’t have a weather seal, though occasionally if we have very heavy rain and wind from the north/east then I can get water seeping under the tiles.

I’ve also discovered that the concrete floor is concave in the middle….

My tip: don’t glue anything down. If you
Need ti get the tiles up because it’s rained, you want the ability to be able to lift quickly and clear the water. Yes, I’ve had mine up about two or three times since they went down in 2018 rolleyes

Also, I put weed membrane down between the tiles and concrete. If water seeps under that stuff just holds it there. Where I’ve had the tiles up I have cut the membrane away - zero difference to the sound in the garage. Once the whole floor is down it will dampen echoes to a certain extent anyway.

What about not using ramps, and cutting the floor tile into the back of the ramp. Essentially cutting off the trailing edge of weather strip so it matches the tile height?

My thoughts also. Think I’ve seen that sort of seal designed with a square back face to fit into a rebate too

Same dilemma here too.. Looking at plastic tiles but have a weather strip also, and am reluctant to take that up. I think I would be in favour of cutting the floor tiles to match the weather strip and perhaps if there was something that could lap over slightly over the tiles, that might help.

How level do floors need to be and is any prep required before laying the tiles? I'm not keen on a floating floor tbh but I'm less keen on the effort and prep for a epoxy floor.

How long does it take to fit these interlocking type tiles for a double garage?
