Fair play for creating your dream but realistically?

I can't see that shifting for £4 million.
Not the faintest hope.

5 acres of Dartmoor, a stones throw from a very pleasant little village?

Have stayed there many times, put my feet up in front of the fire with a glass of red wine :-). It's an amazing place. I usually stayed in the stables rooms that are adjacent though. It is amazing. The tapestries are supposed to be worth a fortune on their own.

Check out main bedroom and ensuite, it was not quite what I expected!
Shirbutt lane indeed
Ironically this is the first house on this thread to feature something that I have in mine.... no, not the wall "art" but the towel radiator in the bathroom.... I have the same one in mine!

I love that. Nice spot - I'm house-hunting at the moment and if I thought I had any chance of getting it past Madame deG that would be on my short-list.

The fair they have in that village, which I haven't been to since 1991, was a brilliant throw-back to mediaeval times, except updated with a tractor beauty pageant. It was delightfully, madly and utterly bonkers, and rather wonderful.

I know what you mean, and I notice the smiley, so I know you're partly tongue in cheek.

I genuinely wouldn't let the weather put me off living on Dartmoor. It's often completely different to whatever is happening at sea level, just 10 miles away, and it's often windy, but that's part of the charm.

The village for that house is well down in a hollow, most of the settlements are, since the water runs in the valleys, the settlements normally follow. It can be quite a sun trap, and quite sheltered there.

Or maybe I just love cycling on Dartmoor, and could forgive it nearly anything.

Any splendid house near London (er - not that one) that I'll ever be able to afford will inevitably suffer from some price-blighting handicap. As I've always lived pretty close to the Heathrow flight path I think I could probably handle some pretty serious noise. This place has been up for yonks, with the price steadily dropping. Now down to £1.2M. Mind you it does also need a bucket-load spent on it.

Just a £5.5k a month mortgage.

Why do you think it'll cost so much to do up?
I could live in that as it is.
Such a shame these houses are where they are!
In a beautiful part of the country, I'd love to live there.

That ivy-smothered 'lean to' is home to the unphotographed kitchen... and would presumably need complete reconstruction.

That's got a lot going for it, and it looks like it's being sold at the right stage of the restoration. Never knew I wanted my own slipway either, but I do now!

Has this one been on already?

Kings cross from closing the front door at home there could be 1h45' I reckon

A bit longer as a general rule, but I bet with practice and a bit of good fortune with traffic, parking etc it could be done

And that's a good thing?

I do genuinely suspect that people who think an each-way commute of that length is ok are mental.

It depends though. Until April this year I'd always lived 20 mins from the City but I now have a 2.5 hour commute to my office in the City. Such are the joys of modern tech I've not been in since April . biggrin

I rather like that too.

Is it just me, or has Rightmove removed the broadband checker ?
One of the first things I check about a property smile
