Good work op, the Mrs and I live in an old Victorian tenement flat in Glasgow which is a similar style. The big rooms can handle some dark colours on the wall with contrasting white skirting and picture rails, ours is Submarine grey, oh and leave space for the V12 coffee table

How do you find the heating in a victorian house especially the old flats with the high celings?

Small updates:

Before

After - still awaiting plumber to replace waste pipes with new (in black)

Back - idea is to put a deck in against the new back door (as this will become the kitchen in the future)

New window in the soon to be nursery cracked the plaster, almost ready for me little boy to move in

Before

After

Yes, some minor updates, had a bit break over the summer but work has started again.

Guest bedroom (at the rear) was completed. New electrics, radiator, plastered and painted

Also had the trees removed, made such a difference to the light coming into the house and we can now see the massive challenge for the garden (will take us a while to tackle)

This is the view from the rear top bedroom before (must have been 50ft high) - all the pictures are from the same room

During

And after, views are great, must be 15miles on a clear day

Builders have started the living room

Knocked through the front room to the middle - they completed this earlier than planned while we were away for a few days (to keep brick dust away from my little boy). They are booked in for end of Oct for new electrics, plastering, flooring etc

From columnrads.co.uk - think a few other people here have the raw finish ones also. They look great in the flesh

Mind if I ask what you paid for the tree removal? Were moving into a new please soon and theres a big arsed tree in the way like yours blocking the light. Without it we can see over a common for miles.

I paid £350 to have 3 x slightly smaller (30ft) leylandi (spelling) things removing from very close to a road and the house, so was a fairly tricky job.

It ended up being about 10/11 trees in all (differing heights), total was £1600, included branch/wast removal

Saved up a bit of cash so its onto the next bit - builders have started sorting the living room

Rewiring and additional sockets
Insulating under the floor and new plywood down in prep for new (still not sure what yet, hopefully some type of engineered parquet)

Blocked the door to kitchen (this will eventually become a cupboard for coats etc)

Reclaimed fireplace in position and almost looks its always been there

Plasterers should be in later this week....

Entering the home stretch now - couple more weeks.

Plastering finished and shutters added

Mist and first coat of paint is on, radiators installed (same as the raw finished ones in the bedrooms) and reclaimed parquet was started

Looks brilliant.

Bit of parquet advice as I've just finished mine: mark out the 2 block +10mm border on the floor and lay the herringbone to cover the line. Once the glue has set you can get a circular saw and (using a guide rail) make a neat cut with exactly the right distance to the wall. It saves trying to make a million cuts between border and herringbone.

Good luck!

Progress has been a little slow, lack of time & funds!

Moved into the living room - shutters in

Fireplace in

Floor oiled

Still a few finishing bits to complete, need to oil the doors and fit some shelving. We partly moved in, awaiting new sofa, rugs etc
