Residence 9 Windows, anyone got them?
Discussion
OWe had some Storm-2 windows from Evolution put in this year......we think they look particularly nice, available in various shades (ours are cream outside white in). Very "wood like", and if you keep the "bars" the same for openers and non-openers, they look VERY like the ancient wooden ones we had before.

Shows a pic during install.....middle one is original wood, outer two are the new.

I've been quoted £7500 for 17 "normal" plastic Windows, and £14500 for the residence 9.
This is with standard white handles on the inside, some Georgian bars added, including fitting and a couple of steel lintels for some windows that don't have one (old house), all fitted, also a lot of extra work removing old secondary glazing on the inside included. May upgrade to the black cast iron style handles.. Have to see how much they add.
All seems pretty reasonable to me. I think it makes sense to go for the R9, it'll look dramatically better on the old house. Going for plain white as thats what the existing wooden Windows are.
I haven't gone as far as getting a quote for hardwood but my bits of digging around suggest that they'll be more again, by quite some margin.
It's a toughie as its a lovely little old cottage and we really like the house but it's not the "forever home"... We'll be here about 7 years I think, so still makes sense to do a proper job and something that'll be attractive to any potential buyers in the future.

We had 13 windows (incl 1 x bay) fitted for just under £9K. Actually not far over a quote for "normal" windows (we had a couple), although I am sure there are some much cheaper ones available. Roughly £300 per pane....
I'm sure that will vary by area and company. & probably day of the week, etc!

The cost for hardwood worked out about 30% more. I decided to go that way as I could change the colour if I wished. The R9 were very nice though. This is with standard white handles on the inside, some Georgian bars added, including fitting and a couple of steel lintels for some windows that don't have one (old house), all fitted, also a lot of extra work removing old secondary glazing on the inside included. I had a retail unit quote and they worked out more expensive than wood so you have to be careful. We have 22 windows and 1 is a monster. Retail was 19k and trade worked out at 12. All plus VAT and supply only. I think your price is pretty good assuming a coloured foil and pewter handle are not significantly different.

We considered them for our self build. Even went up to a factory which makes them as they were happy to deal direct. Went with hardwood in the end, but it was a very close call. PM me if you want the details of the manufacturer I was in touch with.
We have been looking at these, but the sales rep who came out from our local agent (North Herts) was a waste of time. Two weeks later and we are still waiting for a quote. Even went to their "showroom" last week to have a look. Also a waste of time. In an old farm building and the only two people there had no idea about any of their productsI don't mind going to Gloucester if it would help. Do they have a good showroom? Can I get supply only?
At this rate we might have to go with wooden windows. Our extension is almost finished. It would be nice to get the damn windows in!

Our R9 windows were delayed during our build so be aware when ordering. The time slipped twice maybe 3-4 weeks abckI don't mind going to Gloucester if it would help. Do they have a good showroom? Can I get supply only?
