I wasn't sure whether it absolutely needed a straight run out of the charging point as once it's moved enough to unclip itself surely it can turn?

I am really just trying to avoid it having to travel over what will be gravel as far as possible.

You do need a little straight run out of the dock, if you try and introduce too sharp a turn immediately off the dock it can throw the sensor to think it is stuck on the dock. The important bit to leave as straight as possible is the route in.

Worx mowers reverse out of the charging station about 30cm then turn in to the garden.

On return, they only need a straight run up of about a mowers length.

Some Worx mowers do, the WR106SI has a side charging point and needs a good straight run of boundary wire.

I haven't played with the WR series mowers but side charging points are not a step forward imho.

It would be good to confirm precisely how much of a run up they actually need by experimentation.

I've been offered this series of mowers on bulk purchase, but I don't like the design so I'm not buying at the moment.

The side charging point looks a pain in the backside. Which other Worx models have the offset cutting blade for edge cutting?

All the Worx mowers have a border cut feature where you press the Home button on the mower and it moves to the perimeter wire to cut along the border.

The Landroid M500 (which I'm currently selling) leaves about a 2.5 to 3" (7-8cm) gap at the border, depending on boundary wire placement.

Once a week I run a cordless strimmer round my garden to cut the edges where my robot mower has left a bit at the border.

It's really not a problem, which is why the new WR Worx mowers, which cut to the edge don't really do it for me.

Plus you are paying several £100 more for this feature and wifi, which you will use once and then never again.

M500

WR106SI

It does look like it will get a fair bit closer to the edge. Hopefully for me it will mean I can put in a smaller border around the edges meaning no need to strim. Interestingly the box doesn't contain any instructions in relation to the wifi feature.

I agree, I have a flymo which reverses into it's dock and it is a much more reliable method.
On the Worx I have managed to get the inbound run down to just under a metre and it finds it's way back OK.

Hmm, updated the firmware fine, connected it up with the app via wifi fine, but it's convinced it is upside down, blue light flashing, app says it is upside down, have restarted but get the same. Any suggestions?

What would people recommend for a 500sqm lawn? The Flymo is only 400sqm, so maybe the Robomow RC304U or McCulloch RM600? Anything else <£1K? Not interested in apps, just something reliable and efficient, and preferably green! Not keen on a Worx.
Flymo would cope with 500sqm.

Thanks, I reinstalled the firmware and that seemed to do the trick.

Does/did anyone bury their perimeter wire? Quite like the idea of it being hidden. Found this cable laying machine but cant find anywhere that hires them.

Think it would be nightmare to cut a line in turf with a spade all the way around the garden!
I've had ours for over a year and moved the wires a few times for various reasons- I've always just pegged the wires down. Very easy. After a few weeks, you'll struggle to see where the wire is, as the grass grows around it, hides it, and seems to pull the wires downwards.

Hmmm, not a great start with the Worx WR106SI today. It seems to have trouble docking, it finds the dock ok but the actual connections seem really hit and miss. 90% of the time so far when you ask it to leave the dock, it immediately makes a shreaking noise and just sits there until it turns off. Hopefully I will get there eventually, but it's by no means plug and play out of the box.

It also says it's upside down a lot, when it's not!

Also now turn I can't get it to mow, sold green light on the charging station and on the mower, now errors, press start, and press ok and I get two long beeps and no movement. The app just says "manual stop" and it stays like that. Any ideas?

D. Starting and stopping while mowing (See Fig. D, E1, E2)
If you would like to command the Landroid®
to stop mowing, then simply press the STOP button (9) on top of the mower.
To start mowing, turn the main switch to “I” (on), press , then press .
If Landroid®
senses that something is wrong, it will indicate a fault message via the error indication light. And Landroid®
will turn off if
it does not receive any input from the user within 20 min (for information on fault messages refer to the Error Messages).
To resume:
• Turn the main switch (8) to “O”(off)
• Correct the problem (refer to Error Messages)
• Turn the main switch (8) to “I”(on)
• Press , then press
• Now the Landroid®
will begin to mow!

No reference to beeps or manual stops in the instructions at all.

Could we see the underside of some other mowers?
