Looks interesting, but if they don't sell an F1 style rear wing for it then I'm out!

This is being launched in 5 days on Kickstarter with a $1200 (50% off) price tag. https://luba.mammotion.com/?utm_source=Facebook&am...
I fancy giving it a go, but there's no mention of delivery dates yet

It’s tempting but I can’t help but feel you guys might have been suckered in by the fake discount trick (i.e. it was/will never be $2499)
I’m not sure people have got the appetite for that sort of outlay, well, not enough people anyway.
I do think I can just about resist but very interested to hear some real world feedback once these chaps have theirs delivered. I’m not sure people have got the appetite for that sort of outlay, well, not enough people anyway.

If! If these chaps have theirs delivered. The lack of care in the way the website was build and written didn't fill me with confidence. If it is genuinely transformational they'll be able to get institutional funding rather than relying on Kickstarter.b14 said:

How quickly we adjust.

The discount thing isn't the reason for ordering, it's the perimeter learning that did it for me. The thought of running a few hundred meters of wire wasn't that appealing. Nor looking for breaks to repair it later on...I’m not sure people have got the appetite for that sort of outlay, well, not enough people anyway.
Besides, it's less than a gardener for the year and I paid by CC. So as they over rode Kickstarters "this might not happen" get out clause with a promise of delivery then there's not much to lose.
In fact, I might order another one for the paddock

Giving them the benefit of the doubt and assuming it’s a prototype to sell a concept….they are doing things the opposite of the industry. All their marketing indicates they are going for consistent paths which cause tracks. They are also showing a lawn mower that cuts not maintains, and is there any grass shown in their marketing that looks “good”?

I wish you luck and I hope that it's as good as they claim. But a company with no background, based in Hong Kong, selling exclusively at a large "discount" through Kickstarter? I'm out.Besides, it's less than a gardener for the year and I paid by CC. I'm surprised there hasn't been one that uses a front facing camera (or an array of them for 3D) and AI to determine the edge of the lawn, as well as obstacles, but I'm probably oversimplifying the problem domain to be honest.
My issue with it really is that it's not throwaway money, and you're beholden to this company to provide long term support for it. What do you do, for example, if it fails in some way that would need it to be returned or replaced? Ship it back to HK?

Yeah the perimeter wire requirement of these things is the single worst aspect of them in my opinion.

Agreed on all points here. I'm surprised there hasn't been one that uses a camera and AI to determine the edge of the lawn, as well as obstacles, but I'm probably oversimplifying the problem domain to be honest.

Absence of the wire is pretty much the only thing that makes this one more appealing than any other, but your other points are too accurate to make it a no brainer to buy one.
Always thought that anyone selling a whole mower as a kickstarter to basically just offer new controller features is missing a trick as you're putting loads of effort into reinventing the wheel when the better option is going to be selling an upgrade kit with new electronics for someone else's model(s). Could probably make the same basic kit fit multiple models.
Saves most of the engineering, production and most of the support concerns.

LOL. How has this not come up previously in the thread?https://www.google.com/search?q=smartmow+review&am...
3 times the price and zero videos of it in action. Although on their FB page they are offering to sell it to you if you pay with crypto.
That's probably the one to give a miss...
Sorry if been covered huge thread
Can anyone recommend a reliable cheap robot mower for a small garden but importantly one that can dock in a small space with a narrow entrance
Eg. forward / reverse straight into the docking station rather than needing space to enter and exist from the side so the docking station can be put into a little corner etc
Cheers
