When we say it doesn't do edges - how close are we talking?

Is this all edges or just some certain type of edges?

Our lawn is enclosed on the rear, wall & fence on all sides - would we be left with an area we need to strim or do i have to get the mower out?
The Bosch Indego I had needed a 40cm margin, so it was quite a sizeable edge it didn't cut, all the way around.

I believe one of the Worx models on Amazon has offset blades and claims it only leaves a 2cm edge.

The Flymo is only £499 as well, and looking at the reviews & the fact it is Amazon's top selling robot mower - you can't go wrong.

It's just too small for our needs frown
How large is the lawn? I know of someone else using one on an acre of lawn with no issues.

It is a very comfortable 500sqm, though freshly laid turf on good quality soil means it grows like crazy. No complicated shapes, just a simple rectangle, but we do need something that can comfortably manage it.

Current Favourite is a WORX one, anyone have any thoughts on them as a brand/mower?

Also - can you plot two lawns and move it between the two?

We have a front & a rear - no access between the two so i'd have to pick him up and move him

I seem to recall you can, but the manual is on the 'net. It'll need a boundary wire on the second lawn, connected to the main base station.

I'm sure on one of the robot mower threads someone from PH was selling the WORX ones?

Might be a bit of trial and error to get the wire right up to the point where it doesn't miss anything.

We still trim the edges by the flower beds - but that's a 10 minute job, once a fortnight.

The flymo will do that no problem.

ive got about 25cm round the edge. Not major as I have a Ryobi cordless mower so just run that round but it would be nice to not have to but maybe that's something for the future. Im sure they will only get better and better. There is a model that doesnt need a guidewire at all. I cant think of the make, American I think. It's petrol powered, not battery, and is used for golf courses. Im sure in 5 odd years time then they will be able to do around the edges and a load of other things.

Has anyone successfully extended/replaced the mower&client perimeter wire with a generic/standard cable? The name brand ones at eye watering expensive, and looking at the image of the supplier cable it looks very non-technical!

Similar gauge cable, wired up accordingly.. .. Surely it'd work?

Ive been looking for a Worx for a couple of months now -Argos had what looked like a great price on a WR101SI at £640 but you couldn't order it. When it reappeared for about 2 days it was up to £750 which I whinged about, then it disappeared again. Repeated enquiries with both Argos and Worx themselves hasn't revealed when they will comeback into stock. I wanted to buy via Argos as firstly I get 10% off and secondly it's a UK warranty and support.

In the meantime I kept on looking. On Amazon a WR105SI popped up (the only difference is its programmed for 450 rather than 500sqm everything else is the same according to Worx). It's marked £200 off which is a but creative I'd have thought but on sale at £599.99so still cheaper than the original Argos price. Also managed to blag a £15 gift from customer services so 'Mowgli' is on his way for £585

Just got to work out where to put his base station now and get the kids to help install it (disability sucks!)

My Bosch is great but one annoyance in that it sometimes misses a patch. Im not sure why. Ive factory reset it today and remapped the garden. Im hoping this will solve it.

I was wondering whether my Worx Landroid will mulch fallen leaves to nothing . Some years our enclosed garden fills with leaves from the woodland behind and the trees tend to continue dropping for months depending on the weather. The garden also gets so wet that it will squelch underfoot so a 7kg machine might stand a better chance to get out between the monsoon conditions and deal with the leaves (if left they cause bald patches). Anyone have any experience.of this?

As a PS - the woodland seems to be a mix of Oak and Alder - the grey squirrels tend to bury acorns in the lawn and the alders being a weak very light wood (not quite as light but about as strong as balsa) drop little branches and twigs after stormy weather. I'm guessing for small branches Mowgli will just stop and turn around but the blades will deflect off anything smaller.
