I used to have a bin annoyance in that neither of us like emptying the bin so would keep compressing the contents until it was approximately as dense as the Earth's core. What this meant was when removing the bin bag you were effectively trying to create a vacuum under the bag making removal tricky.

One day I could stand it no more and drilled a few air holes close to the base of the bin and problem solved, therefore making my anecdote irrelevant to the thread
Why have I never thought of doing this? You sir are my new hero hehe

Make sure you drill the sides, low down, rather than the bottom. That way, in the event the bag ruptures and bin juice escapes, it doesn't trickle through the holes.

That is clever. I read the whole thread, and kept thinking, you'll spill bin juice one day... Not anymore!

I'm gonna drill holes on the back so she cant see them as well...

The external doors at our place are quite high off the ground and all have a step. Then we had French doors added but I never quite got around to making a step for them, so there's a 350mm change in level. It's been like that for about 3 years now. The children just learned to take a run up when they wanted to get back in the house.

Then there are the bloody bedside cabinets with bottom hinged front doors that we inherited. Every couple of nights there's a thud as one of the useless retaining mechanisms gives up and the door falls open. Why the hell did anyone think bottom hinged doors were a good idea? No doubt I could sort a temporary fix with some of those magnetic clasps but it's never got quite annoying enough to make me actually do it.

Were it not for the conventional drawer that sits above the oddly hinged cupboard that might work! smile

The final solution is made of high friction rubber, a bit like one of our super sticky track tyres, I've been using one for 2 months and the problem is gone. It's blinking refreshing not to keep bending down and re-positioning my blasted Brabantia and not having to continually touch up the paint on the wall behind.

Take a look a www.goodboyinnovations.com if you fancy reading about how he solved the issue.

What do people think? My buddy is going to join this thread at some point so go easy on him haha!

Hands-up, this is my invention (patent pending), tired of my £80 Brabantia whatsit bin moving, I came up with the concept, filed a patent application (encouragement from PH) and have been first to market! In fact, inspiration came from this thread..

One of my most simple patents to date Guide to filing a UK patent The author - Neil Ward was quite happy to respond to my emails and gave some great tips.

It been a bit of a journey, but if anyone has feedback on the website / concept / product, I would appreciate it smile

Well, we have a small bin in a cupboard, so this is no use to me, BUT I think it looks a great idea: if I had such a fancy bin on our hard floor, I'd want this solution!

I was one of the early testers, it was a good call as the thing grips incredibly well - quite surprised the bin manufacturers are unable to use similar materials, but I guess they try to use the same hard plastic base as the liner inside for reasons of cost.

For a few weeks my BT supplied FTC broadband has been dropping out fairly frequently for brief periods. Never out for more than a couple of minutes at a time and I was rather hoping that somebody would sort it out without my having to do anything about it. Hasn't happened yet so I'm thinking that some time in the next couple of weeks I should maybe start that fault reporting procedure.

I had this once in the past, you may find it's a local maintenance thing which is what happened for me, but probably worth checking if local neighbours also have the same issue.

Little update on this from my buddy that invented the anti slip bin mat thing based on reading this thread and experiencing the same issue...

After almost a year... It sells and anyone that buys one and gives feedback seems very impressed. It hasn't had any real advertising, but today he also listed it on Ebay to help exposure smile

I cannot link directly on here, but the Ebay link is found via searching 'goodboy mat' or 'anti slip bin mat', or even 'bin mat', it's the only one out there still.

Thanks for listening any comments are welcome, as always!

Now that I've been reminded of this thread I can tell people what happened about this. Eventually I called BT and explained that I had an intermittent fault. They sent an engineer and sure enough, it was working fine when he came (this was a few days into the very dry period that is still ongoing in this area).

Next thing there is a bill from BT for something outrageous, I think it was nearly £300, because there was no fault found. I of course objected, they stuck to their guns and it went backwards and forwards with them saying they had investigated and decided I needed to pay. I said we could discuss it further in the small claims court. Eventually I got a call back from a senior person who apologised for the misunderstanding and please consider the matter closed.

So now I'm waiting to see if the fault reappears when it starts getting wet again.

Oh christ where do i start.

I didnt plane the bathroom door enough when i redid my bathroom and so it kind of vibrates against the polished porcelain when im closing the door (doesnt do it when i open it). It only needs at most half a mm more off it but i cba

What started out nice and silent, the two extractors to our bathroom and en suite have now turned into such an annoying sound when running that they wake me up if im asleep and the mrs gets up for a piddle (which she does several times a night) 3 years ive been meaninng to look at them (in line loft ones but the isolator is up there too grr)

The en suite shower had a bit of sealant fall out so it now leaks. Solution - use the main bathroom shower (again 3 years)

Our feckin bin drives me nuts for several of the reasons outlined above.

there is a slightly riased screw on the carpet seperator to the lounge and when in barefoot i always stand on the bloody thing.

Downstairs loo seat is wobbly as fk being one of those top mounted piles of crap

Ensuite loo seat is wobbly as fk being one of those top mounted piles of crap

Main bathroom loo seat is wobb...you get my drift

I have to put an alarm PIR up in the lounge as its just a wire hanging down, i have it in the crap drawer and its been there 9 months

I have an AV cupbord that should house all the sky box and modem etc but i havent got round to moving the sky cable yet so there is a sigle black cable that is on show behind my tv. 1 year and counting

My uupvc french doors have dropped meaning you have to lift them to get them into the frame

My front door PIR is faulty and will beep randomly

The smoke detector in the utility room is fubar and currenty just a wire hanging down.

I need about 2 days to rectify most of that but cba as i renovate properties and manage them day in day out.

I built our house nearly ten years ago and I mislaid two of the four screws when fitting the bedroom door handle; every morning I pass it and make a mental note to purchase some more identical screws....
