As mentioned by another well informed member . who unlike the resident "Concrete expert" !!!!!!! bothered to do a few mins research . Now he went a bit quiet as he was looking a fool. Big difference between been a "expert" and just been"Talented " . Experts never really can do their line of work . they just sit in cheap suits in a mondeo visiting sites .
do they use the mesh you mentioned?

The bullst alarms are ringing all over the internet every time you get near a computer.

I've never paid any trades a deposit for work to be completed, and I always ask them how and when they would like paying before they start work.

Of all the trades I have used, it has always been along the lines of don't worry about materials we can get those on account/30days terms so will invoice you later, we would just like paying interim payments for labour, usually weekly. Anything that is a custom item or cant be bought on account is a payment upfront.

Try calling Pimlicos etc. They want a card in the machine before they even start work . And soon you will not be getting gas or electricity on "credit" its all going to be PAYG

So you're not on RatedPeople then?
Most good people dont even advertise . why bother dealing with all the "can we get quote " stuff from people who just want free advice . You want to be "over the threshold " before you have even started with new clients .

Ask them . And we did not use their product . It is a good product , but did not give the client what they wanted .

I'm getting more and more confused.
This god awful concrete kitchen with unsuitable flooring and worktop combo.

It started as some artisan applied by hand job. Mixed by hand, just right.
Then it involved some kind of net.
Then a concrete expert called custard.
This was disproved by the existence if what looks like some sort of concrete cladding (although this didn't fit with the original line of getting the mix just right, unless tile adhesive has become complicated).
...but you didn't use the concrete cladding. Or do the work, because you're a project manager. (A skilled, artisan project manager).

So what did you do? I'm so confused.

It does sound weird ! But it will look amazing. Its a "kinda" copy of a Kitchen I know of in HK . The leather is costing them a fortune as they wanted it to come from a well known place . Its been laid in 600mm squares . .The idea is it will "Patina" nicely .
Is it waxed to protect it? I've seen leather floors, but using one for a kitchen seems like asking for trouble the first time something is spilt on it. There's patina, and there's looking like a stained mess.

you do realise most of the most secure locations with proper security procedures take about 10min's to get in?
This is true, apart from the French Embassy, who think 2 hours is De Riguer...bds!

They are going to sign off on the sealing .Once the leather people have agreed .They really want the whole thing to "age " quickly . To be honest its a bit of a 'show kitchen" as its not often they eat at home. maybe 3 times a week , But they do "flip" houses when the market is in their favour. So the idea of protecting the leather might work in the long run .As a new buyer might not want it so "rustic"

And I am not a hands off " project manager" My hands rub all over the jobs that I run and in the old days a few wives and GF's of the "Company directors " who knew so much about everyones trade and told everyone if they where not so busy they could do it all :-) Its true, Most of the good looking guys in the trade get "bonuses " :-)

ERM, so now you're also project managing the rich guy's missus' gusset?

If this thread gets any more bizarre, you'll be sleeping with 1 eye on your trowel at Christmas. Does your C5 have HGH viz and a light bar?

I reckon smile

To be fair, this is pretty much the same way all the threads go where someone has a moan about some tradesman or other, or conversely when someone has a go at something, but gets stuck and asks for help (electrics is a favourite) and all the tradesman pile in like 'get a pro in, it's all far too complex for someone of your tiny brainpower and skill'. Seems to be no shortage of high horses around. At least Mr WUM who started the thread just went straight in there....

He's right. And I'll explain why.

Last week we were on a job, nearby there was a noodle bar type place. What did I have (every day)?

Lobster noodles, with all the garnishes.

Only those who roll at the very top can just throw a wedge at lobster for lunch. Put it this way, I ain't the one pushing the barrows. You see me eating lobster for lunch and you just knew that anyway.

I nearly st myself laughing when I saw your user name ! I love you for Breakfast , yes, 100% . bh and moan like a bunch of pussies about the "trades' yet can do SFA themselves other than try to look down from their Pinstripe suits on us in our very best "dickies" . They are so clever yet seem to employ the lowest of the pile when it comes to working on their homes.

I am going to bed to dream, seems many of them start just after they wake up

Anyway. I am here to assist members that require quality information. Its my gift to the forum .

On a similar vein, in the last year I've been attempting more and more of my own driveway mechanical repairs on my cars. Its a mix of personal interest/hobby and cost saving on labour meaning I can sort out even more things.

I tend to read up first and watch 'how to' guides on YouTube and asses whether or not I have the time and ability. Anyway, I got a bit stuck(still stuck) earlier this week while attempting to replace the rear brake pads, and accidentally dislodged the dust seal on the caliper. I posted on a Facebook group for a bit of quick advice and I got about 20 replies quite quickly, and many offered some helpful advice. Most said not too much of a problem and suggested buying a refurb kit from ebay, which I subsequently did and intend to attempt next week.

But of those 20, a couple of people took the opportunity to blast me quite offensively saying if I've manged to do that what else have I broken etc, and should have paid a professional to do it. One of them even private messaged me to give me grief about my abilities!

Its a £2000 hot hatchback not a super car, some people really have some sort of complex laugh
