Thanks for the comments everyone, always appreciated.

I planned on covering music using a very good portable speaker connected to an iPhone. This had always been more than enough on holiday. I'll think about other options though now.

I did a dedicated home cinema build a few years ago so won't be adding an outdoor one - the cost of the pool is, quite frankly, enough!

Nick and the lads will be round just after 7:00am so will be a while before there is anything to post. I'll try and dig out the photos of the home cinema build if anyone is interested. It was only a small room, but it works brilliantly!

Cheers all.

Excellent thread, astonishing progress.

On hols in France recently and there was a speaker the size of a football bobbing around in the pool. Waterproof (obvs) and bluetooth, the sound quality was excellent. From Intermarche and not expensive, if I had a pool at home it would be top of my list.

I just got a pair of UE Wonderboom's for BlueTooth, Outdoor Garden speakerage, which you can pair up, float and are waterproof! For their size the sound off them is astonishing!

Been watching this in the background, epic, as everyone else has suggested! smile

Would second/third the call for a proper speaker set up by the pool. It's a huge plus for the pool at my parents.

I think a couple of speakers on one side and one eat each hidden in shrubbery. I think they may even be disguised as rocks?!

Portable speakers are great but the quality of a proper speaker vs portable would make the relatively small expense worth it.

Great build/thread - keep it up. Following intently!

I'd put a couple of decent cabinet speakers in and wire through to a Sonos Connect. It would really make the patio come alive for BBQs etc.

[shows OP expensive speakers and then shuffles off back to the shrubbery]
Did someone say Rock? How about a Boulder?

Unity Audio 'Rock' and 'Boulder' Speakers Oh and they are not for external use but are nice speakers!

The trouble with 'rock' speakers is, they often sound muddy, in my opinion.

A pair of Bowers & Wilkins AM-1 (£450) mounted on the side wall of the house with speaker cable chased inside connected to a Sonos Connect:Amp (£500) would do the trick, sounds great and looks good too.

That coupled with a Ubiquiti outdoor wireless access point, PoE injectors, controller etc.

Just needs two speaker speaker cable runs and a single run of Cat.6.

Add the speakers, Sonos and AP when financial shock has subsided.

Job jobbed.

It's raining sideways here in Notts this morning. Doubt the guys will make any progress today. The pool might fill up though.
