I was 46 when I posted the the original question, a few weeks later (when we started) I had turned 47 and having turned 49 now I have a big Birthday coming up next summer.
Snap - same birth year. Hard to believe your project kicked off 2 years ago !

My idiot pool has decided to throw a wobbler this weekend. New boiler 2 years ago and new pump last year. Filtration lost pressure yesterday and boiler not kicking in due to this so suspect a blockage. Many great days but they can cause pain. Pool engineer coming tomorrow to have a look. Ho hum!

Enjoy yours working well guys. And let’s not talk about gas/leccy bill....

Suspect I need a new liner in the near future. Fwp fml

No bother, is pretty much only to say I'm in. I do need to get you an ebay copy of Project X too, it's a riot of a movie!

Yeah, this thread brings back fond memories. I was very unhappy in a job at the start of the thread (hence following & posting in it so often), but by the time your work completed I had been promoted into a much more favorable & lucrative role. Until that point, this thread was a very welcomed and enjoyable daily distraction!

Very pleased it's all working well still, If still on offer, I would look into the logistics of stopping by! - thank you smile

time does fly, and by coincidence i have been reading this thread again recently for much valuable information as we have our own (much smaller) pool built in our holiday home.

It's only 1.8m x 4.6m so a tiddler by comparison but is specifically for sitting in and drinking beer whilst cooling off in Indonesia. (no oil powered heating system required here)

Will do a post in a few weeks that shows the build end to end if anyone is interested.

Do you have a fk off big crane?
Yes please, although I cannot comment on whether it would be appropriate to piggy-back it on this thread...

I assume you have already identified which gardening implement will be immortalised in your thread? smile

Threads like this and Espescially posts like this make me believe we aren't totally screwed.

some of us on this thread will never have the opportunity or wealth to do what you have done ( through our own laziness or through misfortune ) however you have invited us all in to yours and Francescas lives with open arms and no preconceptions whatsoever.

it has been a joy to follow this from start to finish and a priviledge to see so many people get behind a truly loving Family.

The Idea of you Inviting all of us Weirdos to help you Celebrate this Moment makes me glad of the day I discovered Teds little old website beer
I'm not sure how I missed responding to your post and the very kind comments you made. Thank you, and I hope to see you at the party! beer

If you would like to hear a story that will further your belief that we aren't totally screwed then this is quite humbling:

Israr, the guy that owns Urgent Electrical Services that did the whole electrical instillation for the pool build, has gone on to do a load of other work for me and we have become mates.

On Friday he rang up for a chat and I told him it was Francesca's Birthday. He then, without saying anything, drove a 50 mile round journey in rush hour traffic to come and give her a card, present and freshly made cake (together some delicious samosa type rolls!).

If that doesn't restore your faith in human kindness I don't know what will.

The world is still full of lovely people (despite what we hear and read) and so many great and goodhearted people commenting here is another example of this. I simply provided the project, is was everyone else who made this thread so great!

smile
