[quote=PAT64]Ain't ever post images of my garden patio job, there would not be enough pages limit to highlight the mistakes!

course with building work you could have or may have done things this way or the 'right' way but as long as it serves it purpose well enough and looks clean its done and nothing last forever just like ourselves.

btw lovely patio and home susan[/quote.]
Thanks Pat64, you’ve restored my faith in PH’rs. At the end of the day our patio may not be to everybody’s taste, but we like it. I think the negative comments say more about those people, than whether or not it’s ‘correct’

Having previously used a tarmac product called supapoint on a patio with 8 years good durability since and counting (don't think that it is still made) I have just used a similar slurry product, Instamac Flowpoint, on a sample section of an indian stone patio. The product says that following mixing you have between 3 and 15 mins before it goes off and is no longer fluid. It was quite a warm day but I was surprised when I arrived at the minimum 3 mins working time. I didn't want to slurry seal by flooding / pushing into the joints as I was afraid of staining (flags were wettened first) …. so I pored it. The gaps are circa 20 x20. I used the grey colour. Being honest, I am disappointed with the results. The product does not dry an even colour and if you do any trowelling or sponging off, the grit within the product becomes exposed and changes the ascetics and colour. These areas went a brownish colour. It does have the advantage of flowing into all the cracks and I guess that it is going to be quite durable …. BUT having spent so long laying the stones, the finished effect was described by my wife as 'industrial'. I have bought enough to complete the whole patio which is circa 70 m2 …… having completed 16m2 (1,5 bags) I have decided to cut my losses and use the hammer and flat end screw driver described elsewhere in this forum to remove what I have done. In a public space or drive where durability is really important and close inspection of the finish is not a big issue I am sure this product will be great …. but for a domestic patio I am not so sure. Maybe I am doing something wrong or am just too fussy?

Got a small (4m2) patio to lay this weekend, my first attempt at anything like this. MOT delivered, base dug and ready to get compressing on Thursday for laying on Friday.

Anybody have any reccomendations other than already mentioned on this thread please?
thanks
