We paid £25 for one half and the ridge of ours about 5 yrs ago. That is longer by a set of windows. The rear may offset it a little as it looks like tile so the gable may reduce the area. You may end up a bit less but I'm sure you'd be getting quotes about the 75 mark.
Interesting, thanks. I looked at a thatched place outside Lyme Regis that needed a roof some years back, and was quoted 'around £20k'. It was quite a bit smaller than that I guess, but my extrapolation seems wide of the mark. On the plus side, great to see that these ancient trades remain sustainable and alive.

That's been for sale for years, was on an episode of Country House Rescue - https://thecountryseat.org.uk/2012/06/20/country-h...

I wonder if it did get sold (was on for years) and it's new owners selling after doing it up?
It's on with the same agent.
I think it must be the same owner too, I remember it on the show and on here too many volumes ago and only scanned the article I linked, thought it was cheaper than the current price but it's the same.

The Allerford house got an absolute panning as a rental in the summer
https://www.english-country-cottages.co.uk/cottage...

and its was on at 825 in April so maybe the decor flatters to deceive the underlying condition.

In the areas where thatch is prevalent so are thatchers. Each job takes so long (ours was about 3 months) you have to book at least a year in advance.
Our thatcher is a great chap who goes by the name of Sugg. The last time I saw the finalist of Strictly was half way up our roof with a lot of straw!

That's quite a lot of thatch and it doesn't look in wonderful shape. A whole new roof won't give you a lot of change from £75k. But you can walk to the beach.
How does walking to the beach help repair the roof ?

I thought this was rather nice:

https://www.rightmove.co.uk/commercial-property-fo...

Actually it's a bit odd. The going rate for agricultural land round here is approx £7,000 per acre. So you're paying for the land and the house is almost free. Okay the land isn't prime agricultural as most of it appears in the pictures to either slope, is wooded or is marshy but it's still cheap.

The setting looks beautiful and the house is nice, but the excessive use of pine makes it very ‘70s inside.

The decor needs a little revision, and I'd say a new kitchen too, but I think it still qualifies for the thread.

Maybe a few of these would solve it?

That place would do for me.

Sorry! It has been on the market since 1846, so easy to forget.

I grew up within a couple of miles of Meidrim. Beautiful part of the world on a sunny day, very green...you're even close to 'civilisation' as Carmarthen is about 7 miles away and us a nice market town. True urbanites would cack themselves but it has almost everything you really need.

Re: the interior. There's a lot of pine in West Wales housing for some reason.

Yep. To pine. The 90s were very difficult, only realised pine in the house made me slightly ill when ot all was replaced
