Good to hear you are progressing with The Good Life! smile

I agree it is lovely, but needs quite a bit doing internally IMHO. Not bothered about getting an Estate Agent out as I have no plans on ever selling, so value is immaterial really.

Cheers!
We're getting there, 42 chickens and 16 ducks. Want any eggs?
Funny you should say that as I let a farmer in the village use the field at the bottom left of my garden for sheep in return for free eggs, but am now incorporating it into part of the garden, which will result in the end of my free range egg supply! biggrin

Your local farmer has sheep that lay eggs?

Funny you should say that as we had a planning officer round to get permission to fell some protected trees (conservation area) and when I said about opening the field up into garden space he put his fingers in his ears and said "I can't hear you"!!! smile

I'm not technically changing the use of the land though, just opening it up to the garden and putting in a curved wooden bridge to go over the ha-ha for additional access (we alread have a gate to it further down the garden as well as another gate giving its own direct road access).

I also think I may have to put a gate on the other end of this small bridge so it is clear the land remains fully self contained for livestock (or horses).

It's quite remarkable, isn't it! biggrin

Nah, the farm house has loads of chickens roaming about and you just go into an outbuilding, pick your own and leave your money in a tin.

£1.20 per dozen fresh free range eggs (very often double yokers).

A might of mine from London couldn't believe it when we first went to get some eggs for breakfast one morning and now always take as full try back with him when he visits (mind you, he couldn't believe everyone smiles and says hello to each other either)!

smile

It’s a bit of a grey area in planning TBH, and essentially a matter of ‘fact and degree’ as lawyers and other professionals like to say smile. There’s nowt wrong with planting trees and hedges, for example, and growing some veggies. It’s when you start erecting sheds, garages, building ornamental features or laying manicured lawns with flower beds that the planners get excited. I used to generally turn a blind eye in my LPA days as long as the miscreants weren’t taking the p*** biggrin

That's interesting, thanks. smile

Apart from planting beech hedging inside the estate fencing I'll be keeping it exactly as it it, just using the tractor mower to keep the grass short, rather than the egg laying sheep!

We have planning to take the required trees down as the are not visible from the road, one was starting to kill of a lovely monkey puzzle tree next to it and even the planning officer said it would look really nice and open up a view onto the fantastic walnut tree in the middle of the field.

I keep saying field but it is only 1.3 acres, so more paddock like really.

I like your old approach to planning! biggrin

I'd be snapping those up at that price. We sell ours to a local allotment shop for £1.50 a dozen, and she sells them on for £3.00 P/D!

On a serious note, if anyone local wants some eggs the mentioned shop is closed until new year. We currently have about 80 eggs with 30ish more laid a day. We can't give them way quick enough, so are up for grabs....

Against my every instinct I rather like that smile

Needs better hospital corners and the towel pile was disturbingly asymmetric though.

Me too.

I thought one of the comments was spot-on, though. By the time you've made enough money to be able to afford a house to party in, you're too old to be arsed with partying.

Nice.

BUT

$52M. I reckon you could build that in the most expensive part of Residential London for less! (by which I mean somewhere like Hampstead, Kensington Gardens or Regents Park, not Central London where you wouldn't get the space)

But why would you want to build such a house in London? It’s so focused on outside entertainment areas. I assume it’s in LA? Or somewhere similar?

I’m sure you could build it most anywhere else for a lot less money. It doesn’t look a complicated build, save perhaps the swimming pool.

Wonder if it comes with a free Ferrari....

I'm certain it'd be there to sweeten the deal if necessary.

Well I know if I was spending $52m, a 0.4% bung would definitely seal it for me (!)

Sarah and I have a thing for house frontages having symmetry, land, and out buildings. The decor is tired, but the fundamentals, for us at least, are spot on. As Julian points is G2L, never experienced, but guess could be a PITA.

As an aside, picture 3, we'd make it a mahoosive chicken house biggrin
