I've recently bought my first house and it's a mock tudor style, built around 1990.

The render isn't in amazing condition in some areas and looks like it's been patched in a few places. I want to get it all redone completely but I know NOTHING about this at all. Are there different types/quality of render available for this that I'd need to make sure whoever does it will use and any methods that are best as well?

I'm wary that my ignorance could end up with me having the wool pulled over my eyes

Thanks!

Monocouche is what you want. It's through coloured (no need to paint).

Do you like the mock Tudor look? If you're getting the rendering done, then it could be an opportunity to remove all the wood.

Would that not involve doing the windows too?

Thanks for this! One of the local specialists I found list both Weber and K-rend on their site so that's a good start.

I like the look so would only be doing the render. Also for info the windows are UPVC so if I did want to remove the wood that wouldn't pose an issue.

Has the wood been fixed on the render ? If so, ideally it would need to come off to render it properly.

Nice first place . Not to dissimilar to my own. Surprised the render is shot mine is fine and its a 1988 house. I filled areas, well the odd crack, pressure washed, sanded wood and 2 coats later looks like new! How’s the wood? Could be rotten if it hasn’t been looked after.

That, I do not know. Is there a way to tell visually?

Also the front bush is so much worse than that at the moment. It's a load of different shrubs that have been left for years, I plan to destroy them and put a wall up!

Thanks! Double garage was imperative and small houses don't come with them in my area so needs must.

Thank you. Overall the render is okay but the cheap/crap patchwork ruins it and you can see some cracks or bubbles at the front of the house. Also for some reason it's a stupid mocha colour. The wood isn't perfect but I don't think it's rotten. Hopefully like yours some sanding and treating will suffice.

Mock Tudor wouldn't be my first choice, but it suits your house and no doubt is in keeping with neighbouring houses?

It wasn’t my first choice, our cul de sac is 14 or so houses and probably 50% are this style so it’s not over whelming but ripping it all off and going fashion grey windows and weather board would probably look out of place. On top of that the cost for zero gain other than cosmetic just isn’t worth it for me and I don’t hate it. It is what it is, could be worse, 60s 70s houses generally look worse imho!

Yes absolutely in keeping, all the houses down here have some level of mock tudor. I wasn't specifically looking for mock tudor but I loved the look of this house when I first saw it. As above, I don't like the look of 60s houses etc so this is great for me.

Re the hedge

Trim and rejuvenate, much nicer than a wall It doesn't matter it's different shrubs, that's how Hedges are.

Seconded, but it's your house of course.

Plus, walls are expensive :-)

I might give it one chance to all be the same height and colour but if it misbehaves then it's gone!

Walls are very low maintenance which is a great benefit haha

..but they make the 'look' of a nice house like that.

A wall would just require hedge behind it anyhow :-)
