I'm looking at these type of products and wonder how the £45 to £60 items compare to the more premium priced items such as Ring.
eBay appears to have many at the cheaper price points which all look fine and do all the stuff I need but would it be a false economy go for the cheaper ranges.
I have good WiFi in the right locations and an original bell push so power is available as well.
Seems daft paying £100+ incremental if its not necessary.

I have got on with it (ring), others have not, seems that there are issues and if you get the good unit from new then no issues. Wifi range needs checking, mine is good. If you are outside that range then it gets complicated. It is not what you think is good wifi, it is what the bell thinks so buy online and check it before fitting to the wall, so it can be returned if it is not good or you need to buy wifi extenders.
Though I am concerned that Ring have been bought by Amazon and the second that lot decide to mess it up I am binning it.

This seems to work whatever you are watching
Not tried it yet but if you have an Echo then say 'Alexa show 'camera name' on Fire TV. The command may be 'watch' not 'show' but you get the idea.
It works pretty quickly ... under 5 seconds I'd guess
Much quicker than faffing to get the picture of my regular CCTV up....but to be fair that shows all cameras at once...not just one

My CCTV is an analogue system about 5 years old. Picture quality is OK but you really need to be able to see faces and number plates up to the edge of your property. Good for general checking though. I've just changed the recorder to a Hikvision. It outputs to HDMI but I use the BNC output and modulate it and mix it into my TV aerial feed. It is an analogue signal so you have to switch the TV to analogue channel 23 (the modulator lets you set the channel)
I have an HD Hive camera....mainly because it was half price to Hive customers. It is supposed to be inside only but I blutacced it to the window and it works ok...good quality....and easily adjustable. Downside is you only get 24 hours free cloud storage unless you pay £4.99 for a rolling month. You also need a Hive Hub....I have Hive heating anyway. Can read number plates etc
I also have the original Hive camera. (Actually rebranded Samsung) Bit of a nightmare in some ways. It's been replaced twice due to failing to record. I have now cancelled my agreement with them. But I think the latest update may have fixed some problems and I know they are dishing out payments for new SD cards as they say they purchased a bad batch. Again stick it in the window with blu tac. Pick up a cheap one on Ebay. Runs on its own App and you can control storage on SD. No ongoing charges. The quality is good but the reliability is under par and I would not rely on it as my only system.
I think I'm going to get some Blink cameras too. Funded by some compensation from Hive......but I had to battle for it

We nearly bought a Ring doorbell recently, but the reviews have put me off. Seems like it's quite unreliable (multiple people saying this)
Also, a subscription fee? for a doorbell? That can't be right surely?

What the juddery...I was put off with this initially but if any tea leaves break in then no local hard drive to nick. Save on wiring etc. so I pay for the simplicity.

It's in the garage , so if anyone goes inside I get an alert and can view live.
You don't have pay the subscription fee (I don't)
For me it's early warning of scum breaking in to Garage.
I can live view whenever I want though.
That being said - It's having a issue at the minute where i'm not getting the life view (motion detection still working etc)
I've just 'upgraded' my Tinternet...........probably something to do with that.
