Gas BBQ Recommendations c.£200-300
Discussion
As per title, am looking for gas BBQ recommendations, ideally a 2 or 3 burner.
The Weber Spirit E210 is what I am considering (I can get it for about £300 as the OH works at John Lewis) however wondering what else I should check out. Ideally would like to spend less, but I appreciate that the Weber will be built to last.

The Char-broil T22G looks decent too.

Yes. Buy the Weber Spirit.
I was going to buy this as a friend has one and it's great for quick burgers, and then decided to buy an Outback instead as I thought it looked nicer. Silly mistake.
Could you elaborate? I was looking at an Outback last night and just about to order before the upcoming glorious weekend.I was going to buy this as a friend has one and it's great for quick burgers, and then decided to buy an Outback instead as I thought it looked nicer. Silly mistake.
Another vote for the Weber E210. I've had one for the past three years and it works a treat. We've catered for some pretty large parties on it; it's more than big enough for 4 people.
I would recommend buying the proper Weber cover for it if you're going to keep it outdoors. Ours spent one winter in the garage while we were doing building work, but for the past year has been outside under its cover. Checking this weekend it was still in perfect condition and worked immediately.

I got a three burner one from Morrisons last year for £70! Yes its not as flash but it lives outside all year and each spring I just pop the grills in the dishwasher and then remove the stubborn stuff and it lights first time every time.
Side burner too which is great for the other things like your onions etc. If I had the money not sure I would justify the additional spend in fairness.

Weber all day long. I have bought cheap then needed replacing 2 years later, so I got a Weber and it's still going strong 6 years later and looks like new after a cleanup. I put a cover on it most of the time (sometimes forget and it gets wet).
Nothing has broken on it and it cooks great.

again more apologies for the thread hijack OP
I just looked at Webers vs £200 outback or any other make
so even on the worst of the views on here I could buy a cheap one every 2 years and in 6 years I would still have spent less than a Weber
So why would I?
Your choice. Do what suits you best.I just looked at Webers vs £200 outback or any other make

Sorry OP, another Hijack
I've never owned a gas BBQ before. Does the Weber E210 come with everything you need to connect it to the gas bottle? In other words can I simply go buy a gas bottle and connect her up or do I need to buy anything else?
Can you connect a 13kg bottle or 5kg only?
Is it worth paying £40 for assembly (John Lewis)? I'm dangerous with a spanner and screwdriver

That's ok, all the thread hijacks are keeping it going and giving me more useful info. Weber certainly seems unanimous at the moment. I've never owned a gas BBQ before. I would be interested to know if the Weber can also be used with lava rocks?
Yes, the Weber came with everything you need to connect a patio gas bottle, namely a regulator and length of hose already connected. As someone supposed, a 13kg bottle would need to sit next to the grill; there isn’t enough height inside for it.
Not sure about using lava rocks, but I doubt it - have a look at some online instructions and you’ll see the arrangement of the burner tubes and the metal shields that cover them wouldn’t leave anywhere for the lava rocks to sit.
Finally, I built mine in about an hour or so with a beer. It’s really no more complicated than a Meccano set!

I find that there's a big hot/cold variation across the grill. Stuff on top of the burners gets burned, stuff in between is still freezing cold.
It doesn't look like I'm the only one to have this either.

Ok - so to keep the thread going - I've read all of the different points and I've just ordered an Outback 3 burner @ £200
I pick it up tonight and will be trying it out on Saturday - I'll update with my thoughts.
I've tried gas BBQ once before maybe 10 years ago, didn't like it, have always used charcoal. I thought its worth a try again simply for the convenience.
£200 seems a bargain so I hope its ok.
It doesn't have a side burner - cant see why I'd need it, cooking some onions in a pan can be done on the main thing - or use the griddle section - or cook indoors like a lot of the other stuff we have with a BBQ - but then I've never cooked onions for a BBQ as its only me that would eat them so maybe not an issue.
The cold spots thing that people have mentioned hopefully won't bother me - we will see. I'm used to a charcoal BBQ and I purposely spread the coals so I have hot bits and cooler bits - it makes managing the cooking easier.
I'll let you know how it goes

I've got the 4 burner Fire Mountain and it;s excellent! Got it last year and used it whenever the weather allowed. Nice to have the open side and griddle/flat side. Solid, heavy cast iron cooking grates which are easy to clean. Took the cover off last week it still looks good as new, even with being left outside (albeit under a cover) all winter.
Great for cooking pizza along with a pizza stone 👍
