Afraid to disappoint so many with the tree in the road hehe

I’m led to believe it is unadopted but I could be incorrect, I haven’t checked the deeds...

Anywho, last update for today, i’ve gone out and realised that I left some suits indoors so I drove back, not 2 minutes later he was out sweeping outside my window and under the bush hehe

The old lady who seems friendly sensed some animosity and asked did I mind them sweeping my pavement... No, crack on my dear. smile
Yes you have you highlighted the boundariesconfused

He has bush envy, plain and simple. Just look at the size of yours vs his. No wonder he’s mad.
To be fair if both bushes were somewhat symmetrical it would be a nice entry to his little kingdom.

The other way to look at it is that for as long as the old boy is alive and kicking he’s going to maintaining your shrubbery and all you ever need to is dispose of the waste. That is a bit of a bargain.
This!
He hasn't maintained it though. As suggested, I think they were warning shots. 2, 6" bit of branch.

hehe

Weirdo
Yeh but who?
You really need to ask?

Obviously the grumpy old neighbour who cut two 6 inch bits of branch off and threw them in his garden... Why not just mention the bush overgrowing next time he sees him if it bothers him so much?

Im assuming by cutting 2 x 6 inch branches he has hardly sorted the issue out anyway! laugh

I am amazed at the number of people that want to start World War III, because someone has cut a couple of twigs from a tree in a public place.

Aggressive, or what?

Further developments today, to the rear of my garden I have a tarmac parking space. There is a small drain.

Someone has picked up the 3 broken bits of tarmac surrounding the drain (think inch x inch sized peices) and thrown them in the garden.

I haven’t seen this on CCTV but I have seen him loitering at the back. 40ft away from his home.
Anyone who didn't know you might think that you were getting a little obsessive.

How many posts by you on this subject now?
Are you the weirdo neighbour? hehe

Hmmm....well it's obviously much much bigger but it actually looks well tended/shaped in that picture.

I'd be quite happy looking onto that.

You're right. It is odd behaviour.
I agree there isn't anything wrong with that, should check none of the branches of his little tree isn't crossing over to the public path and cut some back if so.

Perhaps he feels insecure that your tree is bigger than his? biggrin

Put on a suit, don some gloves, politely rap on his front door, wait until he opens, say 'good afternoon sir, then unleash the biggest canned-air blow horn you can possibly find, as seen on YouTube. Hopefully his heart will explode, then merely close his door back on the latch.

Or get loads of cats. Wait, definitely get loads of cats, ones that like to sh*t on grass! Yeees..
We have a strange neighbour here also, there is a large gravel/concrete car park opposite our house that we would take our dog out to when he needs out in between his walks, one neighbour who uses this car park doesn't like this and has commented to my wife a couple of times that we shouldn't be taking him there, but he never says anything when I take him out and see him.

The car park is pretty big and we always clean up after our dog without fail, one day there was a random piece of dog st left on our doorstep, obviously old as it was dried up so looked like someone placed it there and I'm pretty sure it was this weirdo, I was very tempted to place it on his car roof to see if he would say anything, but thought better of that and just threw it away instead.

I have now trained our dog to st next to his car, he automatically goes there to do it now almost without fail, of course I still always clean it up so it makes little difference, but I just find it funny how this guy never mentions anything to me, only my wife. He doesn't even look at me anymore when he sees me out there with the dog squeezing one out beside his car hehe

I'm sure some on here will now think I'm the weirdo neighbour but I still think its funny biggrin

"Anywho, last update for today, i’ve gone out and realised that I left some suits indoors so I drove back, not 2 minutes later he was out sweeping outside my window and under the bush"

Maybe they regard what they can see out of their front windows as their 'rightful property'. It could turn into a full-on take-over.

Had this some years ago on an unadopted road where parking my car outside the house led to the usual English way of intimidating people. It started with a polite note through the door asking me not to park in the road outside my house as it would stop 'fire engines getting through.' The road was 12 metres wide.

Eventually it escalated into a full scale war with my car tyres being let down. I installed CCTV which pissed them off even more. Solicitor wrote to them threatening an injunction if they came onto my property.

So they moved into stealth mode, parking full bins outside my house at three in the morning to block my car in, sprinkling carpet tacks around, getting petitions up with the other neighbours and making incessant complaints to the council about imaginary noise and nuisance, occurring when the house was empty They even complained that my bathroom light was 'keeping them awake all night.' The bathroom was on the other side of my house.

Looks like they've planted their 'tree' to mask your property. Sweeping up your borders as soon as you leave seems irrational, to say the least. They are marking their territory. It will get worse. :-)

Quite.

I'm not sure why people are being so critical of you OP, I'd be similarly puzzled by the off blokes behaviour too!

I’m confused.
Nearly ten pages of nothing (I did not read them all). In summary:

1. Neighbour cuts a full x1 feet of bush possibly overhanging common access
2. OP thinks war has started
3. Neighbour turns out to be "Nice" surprise, surprise.

Conclusion:

Life goes on, no real harm has been done. Keep your bushes trimmed or allow the neighbour to do it for you (and expect clippings.

Perhaps focus on something more important in your life and dont seem as "Strange" (if not more) as your neighbour.

Pip
Ps and ignore all the idiots posting sh#t that would escalate a 'non item'

Excellent !!

I was wondering if we'd ever get a common sense comment on this thread. Why do people love to make more problems that they need to ?

Just looked again at pavement tree, isn't it also bang in the services way leave.
Might be worth having a friendly chat about removing by it. Then again might not be around long enough for it to cause issues. :-)

Chop the bush down completely and replace with weed. Tell him it's exotic, very difficult to cultivate (only known one in Essex) and you'd be grateful for his help to cultivate it. Then once he has included in his maintenance routine, ring Plod and dob him in.

Is his pavement tree the same species as the one of yours he trimmed? If so, maybe he is playing a long game - trimming yours until his is similar size and he has a nice "gateway" onto that bit of access road.

Alternatively, he's just a bit of a screwball.
