Today is a red letter day smile.

The battery is full after yesterday's grid fill and we are now producing more solar than we are using, so we are now exporting to the grid at 15ppkWh.

I'll need to do some extrapolation and estimate how long it will take to pay off the investment. I still think it will be around 10 years, but it's a great feeling to not be worrying about energy price changes.

I'm assuming you have the Tesla app.

Go to Settings

Then Powerwall

100% Backup / 0% Time-based Control

I'm now drawing 5.0kW into the wall. The washing machine has just gone on, but it hasn't really started yet. Wifey just asked if I wanted a cuppa, so it's now 8.3 from the grid. - KERCHING smile

The results from March 15 are in smile

£5.33 in octopoints given. Cost of £2.91 in energy (11.75kWh).

Profit of £2.42. Which is a couple of days of normal energy usage for me on tracker.

Finally. Was a bit short notice for me and I had already charged the car partly plus I had charged it earlier to go out, plus no effort in the saving session itself.
So for me, £5.09 electricity used in the day, and saved 1.3kWh in the saving session giving me 2344 points worth £2.93.
More effort was made yesterday so hoping I get profit from that one hehe

Figures in for the 15th. Only £2.59 despite gaming the system. Bit disappointed.

anyone thinking of jumping to ovo anytime?
Why would we move are they offering anything good?
if you have an ev they offer 10p anytime and the regular rate matches the price cap
If you have a compatible EV and a compatible charger. Their range of compatible chargers extends to 2 makes. Their compatible vehicle list doesn't include Nissan Leaf, surely the most common EV on the road.
https://www.ovoenergy.com/electric-cars/charge-anytime-cars-and-chargers

that's got to be the majority covered for? I'd have thought more teslas have been sold than leaf's but I might be wrong, you dont see many nissan leafs around here.

either way could be worth considering

Yep, expect you're right that there are more Teslas now. Was just pointing out there are lots of chargers and some cars which aren't compatible - neither my car nor my charger is.
It's very annoying. We've got a new 40kw leaf coming on Monday (well new to us) and I spent yesterday swapping the type 1 plug on the chargemaster charger to a type 2, and moved it.

You can pick up ohme chargers on eBay and I'm wondering if that cost to change would be worth it to take advantage of the OVO/octopus products.

I'm currently in octopus go at 40/12.

It really should be this complicated smile

Ps. To the person thinking about a type 1 to type 2 adapter. ..it's really pretty easy to swap out the entire cable and plug, if you can pick one up on eBay or evbitz.co.uk

Just over £15 which I’m pleased with considering the late notice.

We've just auto-moved from Bulb to Octopus but interesting to hear Ovo today is offering a fixed tariff at less than the price cap... wondering if best to wait a few weeks to see if Octopus do something or if other suppliers start competing with Ovo. I don't have an EV.

Martin Lewis warned that this would happen.

The prices are estimated to drop in June, so a fix above that may not be as good as it seems.

For the 23 March session is cost me £2.01 (10.80kWh) in electricity on tracker.

The saving session netted me 3360 points (£4.20) so a profit of £2.19. Not bad for 3 hours of the washing machine and tumble dryer going non-stop.

"From 01/04/2023, you'll be paying £341.75 on the 1st of each month"

So I've been running the account through winter with a 250 a month payment and its currently -£15. I thought the support was continuing and the cap or whatever wasn't happening, so how come they jacking it up such an amount do we think?
