Meter fitted and all communicating. I've had to do some math to get the averages, per day over the time we've lived here:
Electric: 11.96KWh
Gas: 1.94m3 / 21.57KWh
Take our tariff into consideration (without standing charges, this is usage only)
Electric: £1.61
Gas: £0.70
So that's what the target is set at. Well, £1.60 for the electric.
7 days later and my average figures are...Electric: 11.96KWh

Electric: £1.61
Gas: £0.70

Gas: £1.43
Gas is high as last week was the first week we properly put the heating on.
Three months in with Octopus and they say they are increasing my monthly DD from £100.92 to £128.19 despite average usage of £89.96 per month and therefore being in credit!!
Waiting for their response justifying this as I can't change it back online ("Payment amount could not be updated").

Are you over a month in credit?Waiting for their response justifying this as I can't change it back online ("Payment amount could not be updated").
I think they like you to be at least a month in credit all the time.

I'm coming to the end of my Octopus tariff and they're coming in dearer than others by a not-insignificant margin so it looks like it'll be time to switch. EON are cheapest and I've been with them before - they were OK. I like Octopus and if the difference in cost for the year wasn't £150-odd I'd probably stay but £150 is £150...
£150 is worth a call to them before you switch. They can only say no.Guess my weekend will be spent checking energy tariffs again then... Some of the comparison sites don't seem to allow you to show only those suppliers who DON'T require you to have a smart meter which is annoying. It's only when you click through to each and check the small print that it says, "...must have a smart meter or get one installed to have this tariff..." etc. I don't have one and I don't particularly want one as I can't see any benefits, only downsides.

No mention of being a month in credit, currently about 2 weeks in credit.

Are there any offers to switch right now?
I need to get out of my Ovo 2yr fixed that is costing me a fortune now I'm working from home. It has a £60 exit fee though!
What’s the tariff you’re on? You could counteract the £60 exit fee with a £50 referral credit but apart from that you might find it’s not worth changing just yet. I need to get out of my Ovo 2yr fixed that is costing me a fortune now I'm working from home. It has a £60 exit fee though!
I’d send you an email with some tariff details but your PH profile doesn’t permit emails.

My tariff is terrible. I did some calculations earlier and I can save upto £200/yr by changing supplier. Octopus isn’t such a good saving, but it seems like a good option.I’d send you an email with some tariff details but your PH profile doesn’t permit emails.
Avro gives better savings, but I’d rather go with a more known business.
I work from home and my gas bill is very high from heating. My OVO tariff is 27.4p standing charge and 3.16p kWh gas. It’s costing a minor fortune.
Has anyone had a smart meter installed recently?
Got one put in on Tuesday (annoyingly electric only, gas is the other side of the building and too far to register) and the installer said the in home display will start showing figures within 20 mins.
3 days later and still no display results. Have emailed octopus and still waiting on a reply. Done some Googling but can’t find an octopus forum etc.

Yes, it’s crap. Don’t expect it be much better. 90% of the time I don’t see gas, 40% of the time I don’t see electric. A restart fixes it and you can then see the figures, including historical, but the display just can’t find the meters.Got one put in on Tuesday (annoyingly electric only, gas is the other side of the building and too far to register) and the installer said the in home display will start showing figures within 20 mins.

Even the guy I spoke to about it at octopus said they were crap!

Don’t really see the point in them, when you get to 7pm and you’ve hit your target, do people not have dinner and go to bed?!

their "go" tariff should be cheaper than that even if you dont take advantage of the cheap overnight
You're right, even without utilising the cheap period it's cheaper over a year for electricity. Assuming you go with the fixed gas tariff I'd save £80 over the year vs the fixed for both electricity and gas.Current £1,046.75
Flexible Octopus £1,086.15
Octopus 12M Fixed £1,131.13
Super Green Octopus £1,147.44
GO £1,007.85
