I know nobody can tell me accurately, I'm just trying to come to some figures which would indicate if there would possibly be a big difference/saving to be had. I don't think there is, it seems marginal, but Tomato might make my life easier in that I won't have to be getting fed up with the wife when she fires up the oven between 4 and 7pm.
This is a big part of the appeal for me. Agile was fun in the early days with regular negative and very low rates but they are very few and far between now. Even when the negative rates do put an appearance in, they're only for a penny or so. Even if you absolutely cane them, they are all undone by just an hour's use between 4-7pm.

We eat dinner reasonably late but I usually have stuff on by 6pm so I'm often taking a big hit here. It will be nice not to have to worry about it.

I try to batch cook stuff at weekends or during the working day (I'm WFH 5 days a week), and always try to utilise all 3 shelves at once - so cook a whole chicken, a tray of roasted vegetables, and a tray of spuds. Reheat in the microwave or airfryer, if I need to between 4 and 7 on the other days. Seems to be working well, I don't get clobbered for too much in the 4-7 peak.

I entered Tomato as a custom tariff in Octopus Compare and it's coming out at £31 a month cheaper for me compared to Agile.

Thanks, that's interesting. I have got the Compare app but am not a subscriber. Over the last month, it's telling me I'd have been £8.50 better off on Octopus Go than on Agile. I think that probably means I'd be a bit better off still on that Tomato tariff. What do you think, Zoon?

My Compare results:

Running my data against Octopus Go shows Tomato £26 a month cheaper.
For reference, I'm running most heavy load appliances and charging the car between 1-6AM.

The November 12 month fix has been re-priced downwards today it seems. v1 was above 6p per unit for gas, v2 is now just under it (in the south region anyway).

And on the day the energy price rises were announced as well...

Tomato Energy went live for me at midnight. They only do electric so I’m still with Octopus Tracker for gas.

I’ve changed my car charger to run between 01:00-06:00 every day. That will be a nice change from having to look at the Agile rates each day to ensure I wasn’t overpaying.

I was looking yesterday so see how to set my direct debit amount with Tomato. I finally realised that you don’t and they just bill you each month for whatever you use. That will be a nice change as well. Octopus DD reduced - I’ve got a £300 credit balance for just the gas to chip away at now. I might ask for a refund.

More chance of winning the lottery than that. 2 spins every month and it’s never been anything other than zero.

Also, the lottery costs £2 a go. This is a free spin.

I've told the wife she should set the alarm for 7.01 so she can get up and switch on the electric blanket smile

Wish I could, I charge my car on a busy road outside my garage at the back (joys of a terraced house..) and I dont trust it left out there overnight so I have to drive it around to plug it in...

I didn't get this email.
Do you have to 'OPT IN'? I had a look on the app and couldn't see where to.

Or is it applicable to all?
