I’ve just swapped to Tomatoenergy, so I have the challenge of finding a good value gas supplier.

Assuming some of you are in the same position, who’ve been best on mains gas only supply?
Octopus tracker for me.

Is the tomato energy app as intuitive and easy to use as the octopus app?
Download Bright, you can then see your gas and electric spend in one app even if they are different suppliers.

The majority have kept their gas with Octopus on tracker.

Its a bit tricker if you have solar export but at the moment electricity on tomato and gas on octopus seems to be the most cost effective option.

Be prepared for a few bumps as tomato find their feet and be prepared for all sorts of fun if you have a SMETS1 meter rather than a SMETS 2 smile

What's tricky about solar export? Not that there's much to export atm...

I've looked at Tomato and they do seem slightly cheaper. I have considered leaving the gas with Octopus and moving the Elec, however after the clusterfk that was British Gas I'm very grateful for the Octopus customer service and billing so so dubious about the risk

I was nervous, but the worst that can happen is they go bust and you move back to Octopus.
They bill in arrears so you can't even lose any money.

They could move you to another supplier, British gas maybe!

Give them a call - number is easy to find at the bottom of their web page (a big tick for me from the outset). I’ve found them really helpful on the two occasions I’ve called.

Today I’ve moved my gas to Octopus as they are marginally better rates but will be a reasonable improvement given my high usage plus the £50 credit is a positive. Customer care was excellent when I was with them last time.

Tricky as in the Tomato rate is low compared to other suppliers.

However, as you say there is little solar going on at the moment so could always switch to someone else when the weather turns.

I don't think you can move that quickly. Of course, you can move, but it's just another pita.

You normally switch around 3 days after signing up. Its much quicker now.

Yes, that’s how long my recent switch from Octopus to Tomato look. Seamless and painless.

I think it’s all done online, it feels a bit like an app to navigate. That said, I’ve only just swapped so can’t see any info yet and still in the changeover period.
Update - the online site is pants! It’s showing that overnight we’ve used half of what I know we have!
