I am toying with the idea of making a wood store for logs for our new wood burner. I'm trying to score some old pallets if possible for the sides/floor but what would you folks recommend for the roof? I need to it be waterproof obviously.

My thoughts are to use chipboard covered in roofing felt...but am open to ideas.

I have a fair bit of chipboard available for free.

Anything as long as it’s water proof I would have thought, I’ll be building one soon as well. I’ll probably use corigated sheets as I have a load waiting

I knocked this up a few weeks ago out of old feather-edge fence panels and fence posts, cost about £20 in screws and nails and an old tin of paint. Anything that allows water to run off should be fine but I may put shed roofing felt on top at some point. Logs are dry at the moment though.

I used polycarb sheets for the roof.

If you do a search there was a thread a couple of years ago with lots of home made wood stores

I used feather edge timber to roof one of my stores that I have close to the house for ease of use..

On another store elsewhere in my garden I used some leftover roof tiles..

And I employ a vicious attack dog to guard my wood..

Oh, and my greenhouse is currently out of use as well...

Bought the book last winter. Opened it and looked at some of the stacking pictures - extremely depressed and put it down. Will open it up and read it this coming winter.
