In the spirit of the thread title, my latest acquisitions that I *really* should have bought sooner:
Olive remover:
I was hugely suspicious that this could really beat a pair of pliers. But a bemused relative picked this off of my wish list & by golly it makes the job so much less frustrating
If you're paranoid about damaging the pipework then one of these is great as wellOlive remover:

I use my regular impact driver with an adapter - that said I do the first 'crack' to loosen them and the final tighten with a manual torque wrench

I really thought I owned a set of these but truth is, I have thousands of tools I have bought over the years "just in case" and I have lost track a bit.https://www.screwfix.com/p/erbauer-driver-socket-s...
My lad will inherit an amazing collection... just none of the above, I guess.

A bigger battery for my beloved Dewalt drill and impact driver.
Bought a 5 aH monster recently and not only does it last for ever but gives the drill a lot more oomph.
I was sceptical that a bigger battery would give it more oomph, thinking that the extra amp hours just meant it would last longer, but it certainly does. If anyone can explain why I'd probably still be confused but appreciative all the same.
I don't think it does if compared with a fully charged smaller battery but that smaller one is likely to have discharged a little quite quickly, whereas the larger one will give full throttle for more than a few minutes. While jacking my car up, using my drill as the driver, my 1.5Ah battery allowed me to jack it up using the lower torque, higher speed setting only once. After that, I had to use the higher torque, lower speed setting, and even that was insufficient by the time I got the fourth wheel. The battery goes off the boil really quickly - literally seconds.
I really need a bigger battery to go with the impact wrench I've just ordered but in practice I expect to only need it to change one wheel (emergency roadside change). I have a "few" lower capacity batteries, and a quick charger.

Naturally you will have worked out the potential energy gained by your car in the jacking process and back calculated an efficiency for your battery/drill/jack combo?Jambo85 said:

Have a look at this video, it explains and demonstrates the difference in power between small and large capacity power tool batteries about 3/4 the way in.Bought a 5 aH monster recently and not only does it last for ever but gives the drill a lot more oomph.

I'm going to buy a bigger
And today the "other" anvil turned up so I could compare.
Thoughts: The hog ring makes it harder to push a socket on but easier to remove. The detent pin is the opposite but only just - complaints I've read about having to need to push something thin through the socket hole to release it from the detent pin are unfounded IMO. Perhaps people just need to lube the pin from time to time but this new one works just fine - I can remove the socket with little fuss.
Haven't decided whether to swap the anvils over or leave as-is yet. I'll keep both for when I fancy a change.

Tripped the breaker just now and used a magnetic usb rechargeable inspection light to find out which one was the kitchen as it's unlit, it's such a useful and versatile tool.
Paid £15 for it a while back and it's one of my most used tools now the days have got shorter, just checked amazon and a pair now costs just £11 which is very good vfm considering it includes a 18650 battery.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07P4D2VZG
The magnetic base is really powerful, I lost mine for a couple of months over summer not realising I had left it attached on the underside of the car, only found out when it went for it's MOT.
Thanks bought a couple of these, great value for money. Discovered that a long press on the on/off button turns it red, a second press flashes red.Paid £15 for it a while back and it's one of my most used tools now the days have got shorter, just checked amazon and a pair now costs just £11 which is very good vfm considering it includes a 18650 battery.

Good tip on the flashing red light!

^^ Great man maths!
(I did the same and have just bought a bare impact driver to add to the collection.)
Now's the time to turn your attention to the garden - Strimmer, hedge trimmer, leaf blower... even Makita lawnmowers do a good job with twin batteries. (I did the same and have just bought a bare impact driver to add to the collection.)
Go on you know you want to
