Having a wood burner installed next month and can’t wait to get the fire roaring !

Had a gas fire in the front room for the last two years that hasn’t ever been used.

I’ve already taken some before pics and will post some after.

So... show me your before and after pics and wood store if you have any!

Before

After - TBA

It had an electric fire on before we started, other room was far more messy and had a back boiler. Took about 2 weeks to install both DIY.

Here are the after pics now install has been completed, need to do a bit of touching up and paid the fire board but other than that I think it looks fantastic.

What was here when we moved. The open fireplace was far too small and had little to no heating ability, it really was just a cosmetic venture.

Log store. I bought this as a flat pack last Autumn and while I may shingle the roof next summer to add some longevity to it, I’ve been pleased overall.

Fitted this over the summer. It’s a 12/14kw Chesney. The gamble was that alongside the Aga it would do a pretty good job of heating the whole house. We’ve not really had any cold weather yet but the other week during the colder snap it did seem to billow a lot of warmth from the drawing room up to the floors above. Fingers crossed.

Looks good but I know you will be smashing your toes on that, more than once. Perhaps I am speaking from experience wink

These all look great! I tidied up our fireplace earlier in the year, if we wanted a log burner put in would we need to lose the black / tiled surround as the ones here all seem to have a lot of space around them?

Spoiler as not a wood burner whistle

During rather than before or after. Do I win a prize for the most scaffolding deployed for the installation of a log burner?

An interesting angle. We're in an ex-mining village, so the mortar WAS black (made with coal dust) which wasn't to our liking paperbag
