..... will it work?

Similar to that.... no flow valve in either end.

Thanks

Define work? If hot water goes in it will get hot

By work.... yes I mean "get hot"

Just trying to get my head around why the water wont just go in and straight out and perform badly.

Baffles. They route the water up and down the thing, else not only wouldn't it perform well, it wouldn't radiate heat into the room properly either.

I've got lots of vertical radiators in my house.

Yes thats the one.... The other vertical rad i hung a few weeks ago had a sprung valve that you put in on the inlet side.... this doesnt have one.

It can't be optimised for it's position in the circuit without at least one valve on it

What's the reason for wanting to fit it without?

Is it going in a bathroom?

Do all the rads in the house have balancing valves and TRV's?

Think of them as isolating valves not flow valves. They do nothing to the flow from cold.

The trv will slow the flow when it starts to reach the desired temperature

The lock shield is for isolation and balancing

So yes the rad would work with out them but it’s a bad idea

I think some are getting the wrong end of the gist here.... I am talking about the rad having no internal baffle/flow diverter.

Rad will have a TRV and all rads in house have TRVS, except bathrooms.

This is going in small hallway.

Sorry but are you saying you can see from one side of the rad to the other looking through where the pipes are connected?

Correct.
In that case you want a balancing valve and a TRV cos you'll want to restrict the flow out to enable the rad to heat up

If it’s not a faulty rad and or you didn’t take the baffles out then then it’s a strange conversation to be having.

Hang it fire it up and see what happens

Would the sprung valve be some kind of non return valve?

Having hung another one a week or so ago that did have one.... thats why it puzzled me that this one didnt come with one.
