Yes thats the one.... The other vertical rad i hung a few weeks ago had a sprung valve that you put in on the inlet side.... this doesnt have one.
Would the sprung valve be some kind of non return valve?
No, its a sprung valve that closes off the bottom rail just after the water enters the rad and fires it straight up the first "leg"....presumably to aid water circulation.

And heat convection!

I am most baffled why there is no baffle installed, excuse the pun.

Automotive rads always have a baffle/barrier to promote fluid flow to the far end. The heat rises argument notwithstanding, would this rad then not be 'suitable' for top entry/exit of fluid? As that would not heat up at the bottom, purely hypothetical as I have not seen a top entry/exit rad but surely it's an install option..?

They seem to pipe rads with the return exiting from the top in Scotland, looks awful.

Also every rad i've had dealings with have no form of baffling maybe on something expensive like Etal's?

IIRC bottom entry top exit is the most efficient from a heat distribution POV - although as you say looks a bit cack.

Just had a feel so to speak and it’s hotter at the top than the bottom.

Science!
