Yes, I know that it is still 2018, but like Christmas, plans for the season seem to get earlier and earlier.

This is the draft calendar for 2019, for those that are interested:

March 22 - Test Day - Snetterton (300)
April 6/7 - Snetterton (300)
May 4/5 - Silverstone (International)
May 25/27 - Oulton Park (International)
June 27-30 - Spa Francorchamps
July 20/21 - Anglesey (International)
August 17/18 - Brands Hatch (Indy)
September 7/8 - Thruxton
October 4/5/6 - Dijon-Prenois (separate Classic + Modern grids)
October 26/27 - Donington Park (National) Night Races, Televised

It hasn't been decided on which day of the weekend each series will race yet to my knowledge but, with the exception of Spa and Dijon, they will still be one day events, ie 30 min qualifying and a 40 min race on one day of the weekend.

Again, to my knowledge, there are no planned changes to the regs from this year.

I hope that the "Group 1" cars (Classes A (upto 125 Bhp), B (126-140 Bhp) and C (141-152 Bhp)) continue to grow in numbers. There was good participation this year, with Class B often being the most numerous class in the race with between 9 and 12 cars taking part.

Maybe some of the Caterham Graduates folks will join in for extra races, either to get some circuit practice on the circuits they visit, or to experience other tracks that their series doesn't visit this year???

It would also be good to see some none Caterham folks racing too (Westfields etc)

For myself, I really enjoyed my first foray in to the world of Caterhams and Magnificent 7s this year and will be back at the blunt end in 2019 for another 5-6 races. I have pondered selling the car and buying something else and I have also pondered all sorts of expensive "improvements" but I think I will limit any changes to things that are easily reversible so that the car could still be eligible for the Graduates series in the forseable future. Shopping for Bhp on Dave Andrew's web site will have to wait a bit longer!

are there any/many bike engined cars in the Mag sevens ?

do you know what the Spa entry cost is ? i think you have to do a couple of mag seven rounds first before you can do Spa ?

The bike engined cars have their own class and we have 4-5 cars at most meetings. More always welcome.

Not sure of Spa entry fees as not done it myself for a few years. Yes, you have to have done 2 previous races with CSCC before getting an entry for Spa, but that can be in any year, I think.

The first round of this years series took place last saturday on the Snetterton 300 circuit.
39 cars entered and 31 finished. 17 of those were for the lower powered group, ie for Classes A, B and C. 12 cars in Class B (125-140bhp), the biggest class in the race. So, if anyone else feels like entering a Supersport, Academy or Graduates or similar car, there are plenty of cars to battle with; you dont need a 330bhp sequential rocketship to compete.
Sadly, I wasnt there - i was at Wembley on Sunday watching my team lose to Watford in the FA Cup semi final. Should have gone to Snetterton!!!!

I have an ex Graduates car. Absolutely no problem at all doing 40 min races. The light weight helps in every respect and they are actually quite cheap to race in that state of tune - low brake and tyre wear, low fuel consumption (by race car standards, and i have a standard tank) and less tiring to drive, too.

Fair enough. But there are plenty with more oooomph, too. Up to 330 bhp in some cases, And they clearly do very well for the whole 40 mins.
And my comments about the benefits of the low weight still stand, albeit that those benefits will all be relative!

yup... to be fair - my comments were more aimed at the fact i am buying an older car that was more road and speed series orientated........ i am guessing i may need to address cooling and potentially other areas to hopefully make 40 min races possible.

unfortunately its not one of the 330hp monsters.... but should be more than enough fun, and theoretically at least i can 'tootle' to the pub for a sneaky half the odd time !!

The (outright) winner at Snetterton is a road car; lights, two seats, MOT, the lot. And he does drive it to the pub sometimes as well smile

I cant think of many more suitable (road) cars for a 40 min race than a Locaterfield. And unless yours has had a smaller fuel tank fitted and a smaller radiator for its speed event duties, i would think it would be fine.

Anglesey should be awesome. It is the best circuit in the country as far as i am concerned, and well worth the trip, from anywhere!

We have a 4o min race on each day, too, so great track time for the money.
