It's a good idea - I know a couple of people who have a "drive through" garage and its been not only useful for garden stuff etc, it's provided shelter for outdoor parties and activities and has also allowed bonus rear garden car parking, should the need arise.
Sounds like a plan...thanks for the input!Bit of an update from the last few days.
Next milestones are getting the roof lanterns in, side doors & front of the new roof. It’ll then be watertight so the internal work can move up a gear.
Hopefully we’ll be in for Christmas , no doubt I’ll look back on this post and think that Christmas was massively optimistic

Nah - you didn't specify a year. You're safe.Looks darned impressive.
Mrs Mop doesn’t see the funny side!
Have you considered going halfway with your garage? If you don't put your car in the garage then I would think about insulating it properly, heating it, put a nice wooden door to the front, but line it with a removable insulation panel and do similar at the back. Then you have a great sized workshop/project room that you can chuck a project car in if you need to fairly easily.
The rest of the project looks great. I thought the layout was fairly OK as it was, I liked the separation of the room above the garage, but that depends a bit on whether you need to use all the bedrooms, or whether it would have become a place for peace and quiet out of the way. There's a lot to be said for somewhere to watch the football while the wife thinks you're in the workshop doing all those jobs you promised to do!

It probably will - for some reason I'd imagined it as a vast tiled kitchen. Doh.
Don't mind me.
Lots of options if you do fine it needs a bit of taming though.
Not at all, it had crossed my mind (though probably not as much as it should’ve)Don't mind me.

We’re having the entire ground floor & our bedroom in solid oak flooring which luckily we got for a really good price. I’d actually probably prefer engineering oak, but it is what it is.
The next milestones are, getting the new windows and doors in and then having it externally rendered, which is scheduled for 28th Oct.
Liking the lanterns also.
What insulation is in the roof void, or is it a warm roof? I see cavity weeps have been put in, did they put a new cavity tray in then ?
Missus want a Lantern over the kitchen, but i want an opening vent above the hob. Shame, as the style you have looks really sharp and would be my preference.

Yes, it’s a warm roof.
The weep vents, we’re having dripping down the inside of the outer wall, which is then dripping down the steel as there was nowhere for it to go. Not great
It’s penetrating the block work, I’m hoping that once it’s rendered, it’ll not penetrate.
Worst case, it’ll clad the wall above the window and put lead flashing over the coping stones. However, I’m hoping it won’t come to that.
