Not sure if anyone is interested..... but we're having a load of work done to the outside soon to fix all the niggles we have currently.

First problem - we have a dog. We also have 2 sets of bi-folds that we'd quite like to keep open from time to time without fear that doggo will go wandering

We'll be running this trellis

https://www.jacksons-fencing.co.uk/fencing/secret-...

Down the edge of the drive/garden, with a return back to the house. There will then be a trellis gate attached to the house/trellis to secure that side and a wrought-iron 1/2 arch installed. Plan is to grow a white whisteria up this side (I've got a normal purple one on the other end of the house)

At the other end of the drive is the 'shed'. Again, we'll run trellis panels from the shed wall to the house, with another trellis gate

Next, we had some trees taken out and stump ground, so these areas need to be finished off with block paving in these areas.

The Fencing was there when we moved in and frankly it's an eye sore. I hate it at the front especially.

So that's all coming down at the front.

Stock-proof fencing will go in here, and will be planted with a Copper Beech hedge.

The Fence at the side has to stay. Because of said doggo and for privacy from next door.

However as I mentioned, the fence was bodged and is already knackered.

It's a high wind area (and it's a bit of a grey monolith) so that's coming out and they are installing this

https://www.jacksons-fencing.co.uk/fencing/fencing...

with 3M posts as it's a bit of a drop next door from the level of our Garden.

The patio round the house is concrete pavers. They (again) were not laid very well, lots have lifted and rock as you walk over them. My wife hates them with a passion, so they are coming up biggrin and Black Sandstone is going down. This is by far the costliest part of the various jobs as there's 83Msq.

Lastly is the drive itself. There problem is - it's really dark at nights so we need to sort some lighting out. The solar one's just aren't cutting it.
So will the patio/driveway is getting sorted it makes sense to run the electrics.
I've just ordered 6 of these (3 each side) which would provide nice light without being too obtrusive, plus I like the fact they will turn on before I get home.

https://www2.meethue.com/en-gb/p/hue-white-turaco-...

And last but not least is the doors on the shed itself. Made of Pine, they are FUBAR. They've expanded so much that they won't even close.

So I've given up with them, and we're replacing them with one of these instead.

So once all this is done, we have nothing left to do outside apart from planting and creating beds which will be a nice change ! smile

I was dead set on getting a SecurioGluide roller garage door but due to height issues I had to go for a sectional with the tracks. When the guy was installing it, he said that the sectional (Hormann) door is much more insulated and generally a better option. Might be worth getting a quote for one of these as well?

I had a Securoglide door installed by a company that also does Hormann. No difference in price, and they advised there's nothing really between them - Securoglide one calls its key feature the better locking functionality, Hormann iirc has a better way of doing edge detection to make sure there's nothing in the way.

Well it's coming along !

Gate and frame for trellis by the shed is now up. The panel won't go in until the block paving behind is sorted

Around one side of the house, the old patio is up. It was dot and dabbed throughout which explains why it was in such a st state only 4 years after being laid.

The new fence is creeping it's way along now. The fence panels are a great improvment imo.

Fencing and trellis all done
Hedge in today
All the old stone is up and the base is down.

Not sure about the forecast now as it may be too cold to lay concrete so I think the plan is to dig the channels for the electrics on the drive..

Really happy with how it's coming along

Looks good, OP. My only comment is about the grey metal framed gates on the drive - to me they jar with the more traditional trellis and fencing you're putting in.

I agree - they were a mistake in terms of colour.

They are powder coated as well so getting that off is going to be a job and a half....Ideally I'd like to go with Black frames and natural wood but it is what it is I guess

6 months on and I thought I'd update this now that everything has started to grow. I'm so pleased with the way it's turned out, and with a bit of time the stuff like the White Wisteria and clematis will fill out the trellis and look stunning ! The hedge should start to fill out next year as from what I understand beech takes a while to get established...

Onto the pics.

Here's our little side bit of garden now

And the side fence going up the garden

The hedge at the front

By the side trellis we've got a Magnolia, Black Elder and a Cherry..

The clematis is called 'Taiga' its got the most amazing flowers

The White Wisteria is slowly starting to creep round the arch, next year I'll get some supporting wire up on the house...

Really happy with the way it's all turned out so far !

Looking great. What's the steel (?) panel, any more pictures of that. We're looking for something similar.

Do you mean the one in between the bamboo ?

If so, google 'Corten Steel Water Wall' smile

love those double sided fence panels, my neighbor bought some fancy pair but gave me the ugly side of the fence with battons etc despite offering half payment and assistance to put them up.

Just takes a bit of time to treat people right but nope !
