Just installed a new LED PIR light on the shed at the bottom of the garden. All works fine on the switch, but appears to refuse to turn off.
I used the same connections as the previous installed light (no PIR sensor) as shown in the photos below (cable to light is the black one) - does this look correct or have I wired it up wrong?

Hard to tell anything from those photos.

By 'won't go off' - do you mean permanently on - or off until triggered and then stays on ?

Are there any adjusters on the light itself ? Usually there are 3 - one for how dark it needs to nee to activate, one for sensitivity and a timer.

Sometimes when first switched on they are in test mode. Will keep the light on every time you move in front. Go & have a cup of tea & come back later.

When I turn the power on, the light comes on and stays on.
I’ve twiddled the adjustors and doesn’t seem to make much difference

Will turn it on again and leave it for a while to see if it sorts itself out

I am guessing it’s wired incorrectly in the light fitting.

How long have you left it on for?

I'm sure I recall reading somewhere that some PIR lights ignore the timer went first turned on - perhaps not by design but more an unavoidable consequence of the design - and so it could be worth leaving it and seeing if it sorts itself out.

And or an LED floodlight on a non-led compatible sensor?

I think with some of these you can adjust the settings by flicking the mains switch on and off a different number of times. So for example if you want it on permanently you flick it on and off twice and it'll stay on, or you flick it on and off three times for motion. The one on the front of my house works like this and the bulb blinks a number of times to indicate... something... but lately it's started suffering the same issue as yours, ie, it'll come on and then stay on for a long period of time.

Turn all power to the light off for 5 min. You may have to do this at the consumer unit.

When off, turn the dials on the light to min time, max daylight. It will now work during the day. When the power is turned back on the light will usually come on for 1-2 min and then go off. Do not walk in front of it during this period or it will keep coming on. When it turns off it should now only switch on for about 10 seconds. Now is a good time to adjust the pir to where you want it and when you want it to come on. When happy go up to the light, and wait under it but try to keep away from the pir so it turns off with you under it. When the light is off turn the daylight sensor to full being carefull not to set the light on. Do not turn any dials while the light is on. If you do start over. You should now be able to set the time and it should work fine, assuming its wired correctly.

On a slightly different matter, I have a PIR controlled light at the front door. It all works well except I can't find a switch anyway to turn off the supply to the PIR and hence the light. Would like to be able to disable it occasionally or switch it on permanently.

But there again I keep finding things in this house....
