Anyone else been watching these? The new "alpine" one is up. Fagin and Sue Perkins travelling across Europe on a hornet and bandit 6.

Good so far.

Yes, bit stupid but entertaining.

I did figure that with a couple of wheelie bins for top boxes it wouldn't be too serious.

Hope it's better than the last tantrum when they got caught speeding

A bit of a tantrum in the first episode, but I'm in for the duration. I like the fact that it feels like you're along for the banter and laughs with your mates.

That, and the footage is often to notch.

I prefer it when they ride proper bikes. This feels a bit Top Gear.

Maybe I'm too serious? paperbag

I suspect so, but perspective is everything.

I’ve been without sense of humour for a bit now and without even knowing these people or clicking on the link expect it will be utter dross.

Wheelie bin for a top box - hysterical. I think I need to get on a plane (spaceship?) with a one way ticket again and work out how I can drink more heavily than currently.

This ^

I like the feel that it's a couple of mates doing something that is almost accessible to me. Though I appreciate the reality probably isn't quite as easy as it seems - the additional cost after buying the bikes of all the modifications, spares, taking a support van across Europe all starts to add up!

Also bought a BvG "Jizz Machine" keyring for the bike almost as a way of supporting them making more videos (and I get a silly keyring to annoy the missus with)

me and you should have a pint one day, I saw it was BVG the mention of 'jizz' and felt like I was back in the 5th year common room rolleyes
I wish him all the luck in his venture, but its a bit Mrs Browns boys humour.

I'd kinda agree, without buying a bike and tarting it up its something I used to do every summer on a Euro tour with mates and it is and can be great fun.
I watched the previous series and laughed when BvG got 'fleeced' in Switzerland as I had similar experience for a differing relatively minor safe overtake. Fleeced for a lot of cash by the cops at the roadside but no ban.
Its the support van thing that takes the realism out.. like Ewan and Charlie on their world biking adventure down or around with 2 or 3 support trucks in tow. BvG wasn't completely stuck like any normal person would be when he couldn't ride in Switzerland the support van came along and sorted it out.
Again its not all fun one year we were stuck just past the top of the Stelvio pass when my mates Triumph just gave up.. sat frying/cooking in the high altitude sun for a good few hours awaiting a recovery truck. Luckily with two working bikes out of our three we hatched a recovery plan while his got fixed at the nearest dealer.

A lot of that stems from the need to have another person filming, carting it all round afterwards etc.

Nowadays it could be done with solid state just from the bikes, but you would compromise on the quality at the end of it - shaky handcam footage won't get the views on youtube these days. You need a drone etc, and when it's a professional outfit you don't want to have to pay people to be stuck with you in the Alps waiting for parts.

I was never a fan of BVG but I do like Fagan and I do like alot of 44T content the BBB certainly the Italia was good with the exception of the moaning about the heavyness of the fine, whether or not I agree with the fine is moot, I just felt if your going to any country do your homework and don't go to other countries, flout their laws (quite a bit) then cry and moan like a bh when you see caught.

Cheery crowd in here isnt it....

I really like the 44T stuff, I like to hear Fagans opinion as he knows his stuff and its nice to have BVG there to add some humour to things and often for his 'real world' take on what a bike is really good (gsx1000r etc), if you dont like the type of humor (absolutely fair enough) then its not for you but I am so glad to see motorcycle stuff like this out there - I dont like all of it but its the best of the bunch for me.

Whats the alternative at the moment? - the same group of 50 year old blokes riding a demo bike around the same country lanes for 2 hrs and not really being able to give an actual honest review of anything in particular, a 3 min MCN video which though usually informative hardly includes any kind of 'fun' or a 30 min 'track battle' where the only opinion you usually get from the same 4-5 people that do them all is moaning about how a quick shifter doesnt work or similar and no actual information about how the bike rides and how the average buyer will find it.

I quite like the fast-bikes blogs too, mainly because the bloke from JHS there who also works with 44T, great inclusion in videos and again not a complete bore.

I do agree. 44T is by far the best bike stuff on YouTube, or in any other media (I find all the mags a bit cack). I enjoy all their other stuff and most of their humour. Just not sticking wheely bins on crap bikes and riding them round the Alps, and some of the other more 'wacky' stuff.
