We have a Roomba that empties itself and has been very good. Actually, it is like an off-road vacuum with the ability to crawl over metal couch supports, but if it comes to a shag rug it becomes confused and sometimes sends a message to rescue it from entanglement. Our whole house is porcelain tile that cleans up well, but corners are not within its ability and requires a regular vacuum to reach corners well.

New to this but wife has decided she wants one.

Budget of £300 ish

Mostly laminate and Lino, transition from kitchen to dining room and kitchen to hall is about half an inch but sloped so assuming that won’t be an issue?
My budget started at 200 and so far iv settled around 600 because if I'm having a robot hoover and mop for me, the thing can atleast empty its self. Waiting for "black Friday" to see what comes off them. I remember last year some good deals being about.

I went for a Eufy G10 last month to assist my 20 yr old Dyson DC02, living in a 3 bed bungalow with laminate floor and carpeted bedroom.

Was a bit apprehensive going for a sub £200 vac as it lacks the use of boundary strips or mapping, but have been pleasantly surprised, finding the unit happy with the bedroom carpets, thresholds and even deep pile rugs that I have. One benefit of the G10 is it also has a mopping function though still to test this out.

Still surprised at the amount of fluff and dust it manages to collect each week. Only snag I've discovered is that if you leave shoes on the floor you need to ensure you have the laces tucked into them otherwise you could be dealing with a tangled mess on your return.

The other benefit to going Eufy is that it integrates into HomeAssistant.io if you want greater control and monitoring of the RoboVac;

The G10 is too loud to run at night so tend to set if free when heading out the house and find it runs for 45-50 mins and manages to travel the whole house before returning to the dock.

Bump.

Hows everyones Robovac - specifically Eufy fairing?

Mine has some field damage on the right hand sweeper motor / gears I feel. Its often limp if any resistance, and you can easily spin the brush on its spindle versus the left hand side. I can only assume worn gears or a worn spindle allowing slippage.

(the catch on the dust collector is also fabulously unreliable to the effect when removing the collector from the Vac, it can wonderfully dump its contents right there on the floor..... ffs)

Still waiting on a left-hand wheel motor assembly from AliExpress for our Eufy. The motor worked fine powered seperately but the board attached to it had a burnt component.

Our Eufy is this one -

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07BFP9TNH/ref...

Bought March 2019. Still going strong. Needed a battery after about 2 years but thats a consumable at the end of the day.

Well pleased with it.

Robbie robot upstairs (s50) has done 531 hours and 24,000m2 in 823 cleanups

Dolly robot downstairs has done 768 hours and 44,000m2 in 1171 cleanups.

Thinks it’s more than that though as I reset them at some point.

My robots are awesome I must say, but then given they're the priciest ones available, they bloody should be! We didn't use them over Christmas as I couldn't be bothered with them working out a new map with the tree and furniture in random places! Given I'm back to working from home full time I'll have to set them off while I'm here, but they really do come into their own when I go into town, set them both off and come back to a clean and mopped house.

Eufy G30 still going strong, no breakages or repairs yet.

Caught it bashing repeatedly against the back door when we first got it, trying to escape no doubt. Also left the Dyson handheld in the kitchen, heard a big crash, Eufy had knocked it over and was giving it a good teabagging.

We were given a Eufy 30C for Christmas but haven't opened it yet as we're not confident it's going to work well for us given the amount of Lego pieces, barbie shoes, hair bands etc that form a Hansel and Gretel-like trail wherever our 4yr old daughter goes. I actually also quite like hoovering - dunno why (same with ironing!) - and don't want to lose my job to a robot ;-).

Edit: Apogies for the advertising. One bit that got removed with that paragraph that I'd still to ask is: are our concerns valid? These bits, and indeed toys in general, are always going to be around so will a robovac be able to cope? We don't think it could win either way as it'll either be always leaving patches or will be sucking up things we don't want it to!

Moderator edit: no advertising please

Yes that's valid concern, you can retrieve any toys easily from the dust box but it might get stuck on them and need rescuing or push them under furniture so really want floor tidy.

What we did was create one space behind a sofa that's blocked off so the vacuum can't get in there, kids are able to have toys out in there. Any toys left anywhere else need picking up each morning because at 8:30 the vac will go around. It's quite useful for making them tidy up!

You can still hoover upstairs by hand smile

Pretty good. It could do with new front brushes, and the main roller gets clogged with hair quite easily. So far it has been very reliable.

It's an interesting point on lego pieces though. Mine's not a Eufy, but they're all vaguely similar, and I can imagine if mine went under the sofa as per usual and came across a few different sizes of pieces, small ones would probably be hoovered up ok, but slightly bigger ones may well get stuck in the rollers and cause a bit of an issue, so I would be a bit wary about heading out for the day and setting it off knowing there could be a minefield of lego somewhere in the house.

How does the Eufy G30 avoid stairs? Was thinking of one for trundling about upstairs during the day but concerned it might go flying down them at some point.

Thank you both. We're quite happy having the toys left out (just the one child so not too bad) and wouldn't want to change that just for the sake of the vacuum cleaner. I think we'll proceed with the plan to sell it.

We have had our eufy 2 years now and i think the battery is shagged (randomly stops). I ordered a replacement battery so hopefully that fixes it. Anyone else had similar?

ours was a cheapo Bagotte but it kept stopping with "stuck brush" errors after a couple of years. New generic battery off Amazon, straight swap, all good

Question for everyone really: how much 'preparation' do you do before setting your robots off?

If I'm heading into the office, so I know I'll be out all day, I 'prep' the house to get the hoover then mop to do a full clean of the whole ground floor. This does mean I spend 10 mins or so moving a few things around, lifting curtains up out the way, removing doormats. It doesn't take long really, and is worth it as the robots then spend a good couple of hours doing their thing, but it does sometimes make me think it's a shame I can't literally just press "clean house NOW" whenever it crosses my mind.
