He must be taking the piss out of the various references to rooms in the roof of 'bungalows' above surely?
Sorry, just to say in British English bungalow means a property with just one level, if there is a second level in the roof space it is no longer a Bungalow, obviously this is not strictly the definition globally. I hope this makes it clear to why I said he doesn't live in a bungalow anymore, he just lives in a former bungalow.
Sorry, I meant the chap you replied to must be taking the piss. I agree with you completely, no one would say with a straight face, "I love my two story Bungalow me."

Lol

It's a bungalow if I'm having a day off work, so don't go upstairs.

It seems rare to see an attractive bungalow. I suppose the single storey design doesn't lend itself to cosmetics. There must be some but I haven't seen one!
FIL has one and they were quite hard to find I gather when he was looking.

I’d suggest these are exceptions to the norm.

This is what our bungalow looks like now...

....and hopefully in 12-18 months time, yes technically not a proper bungalow.

Seems to be a rather alot of exceptions to the norm on heresmile.

You know you don't live in a bungalow right?

All are nice in their own ways, but if you realistically tried to sell them;
First one looks like a container with bifolds - £100K?
Second one looks more like a normal house, but will be hard to heat - £250K?
Third one looks like a shed - £50K

Of course in London you will make a fortune, try selling these contraption up north and report to us

First one looks like you are about to kick the bucket
Second one looks nice - more house like and proportional, but it certainly is now a house.

Its a bit like on rightmove you say you want to buy a house in london, then some ignoramus lists their period flat conversion as a house, thinking that someone looking for a house will buy their heath robinson contraption of a maisonette or garden flat instead of a house. I think public floggings of such estate agents will swiftly bring such ill conceived practices to a shuddering halt

If you call that a bungalow, I propose public floggings

I did wonder; could be single-storey with an open/vaulted roofspace I suppose?

It's possible, but there's a lot of height between the top of the ground floor doors/windows and the eaves, if that's the case? It's certainly got enough overall height to be 1 1/2 storey room-in-roof, apart from the velux and gable windows suggesting that it is so.

Allowing for floor joists etc above the tops of the doors and window (obviously smile), the useable headroom would be fairly limited at ff level, so you’d probably end up with a long, narrow central room/s and storage in the flanks I guess.

I’m a similar vein to calling a flat an apartment, bungalows are now called ‘lateral living’.

Suits me!

This is my self build, calling it a bungalow seems wrong to me smile

TBH chap that suits me and Mrs Iroc to a 'T', looks lovely!
Liking the look of that, and I'm not usually into the really contemporary stuff.

I like the way bungalows sit. Less shouty and more relaxed than the equivalent house.

Hilarious, you do realise its the same property with only in effect on additional bed room been added?

You can call it what you like but I call it a bungalow smile.

That’ll look lovely. Not sure about the planned sculpture of the bloke tugging off a hunchback though.
