Is anyone moving now?

Hope you find something suitable MDUBZ, it's all a bit of a nightmare just now!
Ours is going to closing today at 12:00 and we have a second viewing on the one we think we want to buy tomorrow so all moving forward at quite a pace. Had a decent offer a bit over the asking price earlier in the week so really hoping that we get a few viable bids in this morning! I've done 16 viewings since last Thursday so am exhausted but it's nice to finally allow the house to return to some kind of normal state!
Come on, did you get a decent price? Ours is going to closing today at 12:00 and we have a second viewing on the one we think we want to buy tomorrow so all moving forward at quite a pace. And the house you're interested in?

We've had some discussion on exchange and completing on same day.

I've done twice so far (exchange/complete) same day, no issue. One with a chain, one without chain.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZMohP3ux48

It depends on your solicitor really, they need to be on it full attention.
We've been trying to move for so long now I doubt there are many, if any still on this thread who were following our earlier exploits!
The latest is that the building society contacted a team of surveyors/valuers to do an evaluation, they outsourced to another who said they would do it.
They turned up on site and said they were way out of their depth and ran off.
That was survey No.6 that has been done on our behalf, the previous ones were done by high St banks who had no issues.
Over 1 year now since I found the place and told the owner i'd buy it.
It's been so long we've actually made much of the money that we're trying to borrow (by working and selling off assets).
If we'd have known it was going to take so long we would have been better off financially actually raising the money ourselves by making more of our assets more valuable and selling them off too.
This is linked to missing the end of the stamp duty holiday which will save us thousands.

Agree with both, although that seems to be a hell of a lot of negative camber at the back on the 02?The negative camber is part and parcel of lowered / uprated suspension on old BMW. I plan to widen the track eventually and will hopefully address this then. This is the eventual goal now that it's running a 16v on ITB. This pic is the eventual goal.
The cottage is a long term rental on a Cornish estate. It's taken me over 3 years to secure one of their tenancies and I have no plans to go anywhere else.

The one we wanted is here: https://www.aspc.co.uk/search/property/397830/12-S...
That one ended up going over £50k over the asking price which was much higher than our offer so we're back to Plan B which is a similar house on the same development that needs a bit of modernising: https://www.aspc.co.uk/search/property/387571/5-Sp...
We are, however, now 37 weeks pregnant so if we don't get the alignment on Plan B then we'll be parking everything for a couple of months which will be a shame but it's been quite stressful so far!
Might be that nobody cares but I'm finding posting here quite cathartic so will continue!
Heard today that our offer for this one at the asking price has been accepted: https://www.aspc.co.uk/search/property/387571/5-Sp...
Can't help but think this is a pretty strong buy given the crazy market in Aberdeen just now so that's exciting but it does leave us scrambling to find a buyer for ours. Hopefully. with the volume of interest we had last week we can get something sorted out and begin getting the mortgage arranged to move in about eight weeks. We'll gloss over the fact that we'll have a six-week-old baby and a two-year-old to manage at that point!
Excited to make some plans for new bathrooms, new garage doors and eventually doors and windows - should be great once we're done with it! Also have some plans to take down the wall between the kitchen and the dining/sunroom area to make it a nice open plan space with a breakfast bar etc.

In a word: no. I feel I might have tempted fate a couple of pages back. We Lost out on a house despite being the highest bidder yesterday, my buyer, single chain, pulled out today as a result; they didn’t want to wait any longer.
So back on the market she goes, with the adjustment for market madness added. the search continues.

My moving is still dragging on, rumours from above of exchange mid may still haven't come through and we still haven't exchanged.
If your chain is complete get your estate agent to check the status with all the other parties. Share with your solicitor and see how it compares to what they already know or will find out. fesuvious said:

What's the reasoning for exchange and completion on the same day then?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fZMohP3ux48

When we moved last year we were told we had to do it that way, in case new covid restrictions meant completion wasn't possible on the planned day.
The risks were low for us as we were moving from rented and had three weeks overlap to get stuff moved. Still a nerve-wracking experience though.
Are they still peddling the same excuse now?
To speed the chain on, we moved out in early February and have been living with Mother in Law since then... We were only intending it to be a fortnight. I have no access to any of my clothes (well OK a week's worth) or my stuff. Its both hugely frustrating and very theraputic at the same time. I feel the need to purge my possessions when we move in as I clearly don't need the majority of them, which is funny cos i chucked out 14 fully-loaded tip runs in an L200 when we moved out!
Solicitor is indicating a couple more weeks, but the top of the chain has not found anywhere to move to yet so I think thats still optimistic! (only renting but still...)

I posted a month or so ago that we had lost our buyer.
2 weeks later we found a new one.
Another 2 weeks passed; our understanding and patient vendor have pulled out. Personal reasons. I think those reasons include them not being able to find anywhere. They said if we completed before they'd found something suitable they would be moving in with his elderly parents. I think they've realised it may be a longer stay than anticipated given the current supply of houses.
Cba anymore. Our house is coming off the market for a de stress and a pause whilst everyone chills out and the market hopefully enters something akin to normalcy.
Anyone know how long that'll be?
And there goes 5k for the pleasure of 3 months of minor stress. What do I do with this structural engineers report now...

It’s stupid at the minute. My house is up for sale, I want to go and view other places to move to and I can’t view anything until I’m under contract or have mortgage in principle, or proof of funds. But I’m a cash buyer from the sale of my house. So can’t prove diddly squat yet. So my chain is going to be disrupted after accepting an off as then I can start looking.

That's why structured reform that mandates timelines and reference points is desperately needed.
It is indeed. I’m aware of buying/selling overseas (Europe), offer to completion average 4-5 weeks. For complicated propertied with deeds and etc, it might rarely take 8 weeks. In U.K., it is best to avoid getting into chains really.

We had to get the title deeds which will show no other interested parties, and therefore show that when you sell ( to quote Jim Bowen) the money's yours.Gassing Station | Homes, Gardens and DIY | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
