This is really strange.

I've been away a couple of days - but Mrs Caziques called me today to see if I had arranged for our drive to be redone, (I hadn't)

Around 9.30 (pm) yesterday evening, about half our 100 metre drive was gravelled - she thought the noise was the farmer working in the next field (not uncommon).

It's not a bad job, but there were a few potholes that should have been done first.

We simply have no idea who has done this, or why. No contact from anyone today.

No close neighbours with a drive like ours.

Over to the PH collective for explanations.

(Note this is just outside Christchurch, NZ)

I'm guessing someone will call soon to demand money to finish the job!
Good luck with this one.

Someone, somewhere, is onto the company responsible demanding to know where their gravel is.

Are any of the neighbouring public roads being done?

Mistaken belief your drive is a public road?

yikes Be careful, OP, its an old gipsy Maori trick! wink

To anybody thinking about having their drive gravelled, it's much cheaper and easier to push Rice Crispies into your tyre treads.

People will be unable to tell the difference.

Certainly the most interesting story to have emerged from NZ in the past two decades. Did they use the correct type of gravel?

Similar happened to us. We had a wall where all the kids locally would sit atop of and gradually we were losing bricks as they loosened and eventually lost a couple of layers. Weren’t too bothered about it to be fair but one day I noticed that someone had completely repaired it and even matched the brick colour perfectly! All done from the street side as the mortar was a little shonky on our side but nevertheless!

Some dozy tipper driver has had a very, very bad day, but perhaps doesn't know it yet.

Or does know it, and is nervously waiting for his boss to know it too.

Isn't that just likely to be the council repairing what may be a dangerous wall before it fall on someone?
