I used interlocking vinyl tiles from bigdug, easy to fit, and easy to cut to size for the edges.

Think I'll be doing similar.

Plasfloor looking like a good option and the configurator is handy. I'll get more accurate measurements to account for the pillars too and I'd only be tiling up to the existing work bench. Don't know yet if I'll do a simple black border and dark grey inside but was playing with the idea of red chevrons or something similar.

Big advantages of this type of floor is keeping dust supressed, ease of cleaning and a much more pleasant surface to work on. Generally looks better too. Concrete looks fine when new but always looks horrible highly uninviting after a while.

Plasfloor and the like are purpose made for this sort of thing so no issues with leaks etc. They're very durable with jacking too. I've never managed to mark one but they're cheap enough that I had about 50 spare tiles just in case (over bought) and it would be a 5 min task to replace one.
Thanks for the info, I will look into it further, price it up.

It looks a nice inviting room but quite unpractical as a garage? Nice in the picture with squeaky clean motors in there, but it can't always be practical to put the car away in that condition, I know mine can get wet and dirty after a good drive, can't imagine wanting to park it on carpet. I guess you would want to have a really well sealing door so it doesn't get all the dust and leaves coming in?

Those look nice

Are they waterproof or does a spill leak down beneath the tiles?

I have about 40sqm to do, and not really sure whether to paint and then tile or just paint with epoxy, so have left it 10 years so far and counting. Whatever goes down has to be strong for jacks and axle stands, and waterproof. Bare concrete at the moment.

Epoxy resin (professional application) is incredibly hard wearing and looks good. Available in loads of colours.

Excuse the mess I was still setting up.

Haven't had a spill yet but the tiles link together pretty tightly & I'm lead to believe very little if not any at all will leak through. Advice to keep them clean is to brush then mop - they clean up nicely. I had a rusty shovel dripping onto them after the recent snow - blue roll removed it without even using soap.

I bought these.......

...from these people.

https://www.garagefloortilecompany.com/collections...

iirc they cost About £900 for 30sqm.

The tiles have stayed put on a concrete base and are hard wearing. The company were excellent to deal with.

Which company did you use & if you don't mind me asking - how much?

I used a company called IRL Group. They've done a few for us here and there and always do an excellent job. The cost was about £3000 IIRC.

Are the Plasfloor tile solid? I have looked at several options and very few actually state this.

Thanks.
They are waterproof, have spilt some diesel on them as well as fuel when sorting out the lawnmower. Just wipe up and clean off, they seem very durable and so easy to clean. As others have said they lock together very tightly so no dust traps.

After having to hold my breath whilst ordering (cost about £700 for this garage 6m x 6m) I chose them as easy to fit myself and the previous larger tiles were too soft and rubbish. Recommended by someone on these very forums some time ago. Love the epoxy finish but the prep work, temperature and general faffing around on prep just put me off.

Plasfloor for me too. Been down a few years now and had some abuse. Still clean up nice. Only issue I've had is where the sun has deformed them in a small section.

Looks really nice. I have a large rectangular drain cover in my garage floor. Do you have something similar next to the pillar between the two garage doors?

Typically the drain cover in my garage is not square to the walls and slap bang in the middle.....

Has anyone else come up with a neat solution to this.

No m8. It’s just an old door matt.

We had them in the garage at our previous house. They looked nice when new, but within months looked awful - oil drips, damp and smelly (from wet cars; I wasn’t going to dry the cars off every time they returned home wet) and and I couldn’t do any practical car maintenance on them.

My garage had a man hole cover in the middle and a storm drain across the opening.

For the manhole cover, I just tiled over the top and marked the corners the tiles so I knew which ones to remove if I ever needed to access it. You could always cuts a tongue off one of the tiles to give a starting point for lifting them from. But since they click in and out so easily, I never saw it as a major issue.

On the storm drain, I set the tiles up to start from there so that I had whole tiles centred on the drain. I then used a hole saw to put 120mm holes through each tile that sat over the drain. Worked nicely and looked pretty good I think. Will try to find a pic or two if I can.

ETA a pic showing the storm drain end. I initially put a hole in every other tile but ended up doing all of them.
