Hypnos Mattresses are they worth the hype?

Overrated, they are OK but nothing special in the terms of comfort. Not sure what the mattresses are used in Premier Inn hotels but they are superbly comfortable beds.
Premier inn mattresses are Hypnos. We had a Hypnos for quite a few years and found it extremely comfortable. It was a big old heavy bugger tho and turning it every 3 months was a major effort. It had very handy labels to inform you when it was due to be turned.
Now we’ve got an Emma. Completely different feel to it. Obviously not as solid a mattress (it does come rolled up) but we like it.

So other that the Premier Inn Hypnos bed you rave about, how many other Hypnos mattresses have you actually slept on?LeadFarmer said:

Just wondering how you are getting on with your Hypnos mattress? We are looking at visiting one of their showrooms soon.Drawweight said:

This. It’s damn heavy. I had to return the gas lift ottoman bed base which I got at the same time because it couldn’t handle the weight.Edited by wyson on Friday 5th November 16:04

Hypnos make Premier Inns mattresses.
Premier Inns use a reduced spring count (ie. cheapened) Hypnos pillow top mattress. Edited by AndyTR on Saturday 19th June 01:12

You can actually buy the Premier Inns’ version separately, its quite good value.
I considered the Hypnos pillow top, because it is soooo comfortable but decided to go for a regular base plus mattress topper instead. The mattress topper can be replaced, whereas the pillow top is sewn in.

That’s strange, we’ve got the ottoman and it seems to hold itself up well. In fact it’s difficult for the missus to get down once it’s up.
I didn’t get a Hypnos Ottoman, but a Warren Evans one. I wanted the largest storage space possible and the Warren Evans ottoman had the highest rated gas lifts with a single large space (1 gas lift on each side, 2 gas lifts in total), that I could find anyway. Nope, it couldn’t handle it. Definitely need a 4 gas lift ottoman, with the highest lift rating possible!Ended up getting the storage base with curtains on the sides in the end. Even with the 4 gas lift ottoman, I was worried about the forces on the ottoman because the mattress is so heavy.

Worth the thread bump for this epic fail hotchy said:
Hypnos from premier inns destroy my back. Can only sleep 4 hours max before its unbearable. Yet I slept on a rock solid memory foam thing in gran canaria and it left me feeling nothing at all. Everyone's different to what works.
Yeah the Mrs likes rock solid beds so we ended up getting the Ortho mattress. Makes my back ache like hell so got the mattress topper which solved it. Can still feel the underlying firmness but stops my back aching. The Mrs isn’t too happy with the topper adding a layer of softness but its a compromise that works. We tried a zip up mattress with different firmnesses either side but sleeping on the zip was annoying.

Thats what iv went with. A rock solid eco coil thing from costco for cheap as chips with a bamboo topper. Does the trick.
Hope it lasts. I’ve not got money to burn but invest in stuff like the bed where I will spend a third of my life. I found cheap mattresses go bad really quickly and you end up spending as much in the long run but having the inconvenience of changing it more frequently.
