Hot Glue Gun

Wanting a decent hot glue gun.

I'm not sure what makes one 'decent', but I don't want glue everywhere etc. want to reliably and neatly stick stuff together. Sure a bad workman blames his tools and all that, but I don't want that sneaking suspicion that I should have bought a better one etc....

Any recommendations please!

I have had several over the years.

My current one is a Ryobi Cordless. Seems to do the job. No messing with cables so can use anywhere.

+1 for the ryobi cordless. Takes a moment or two to warm up but I've never yet run out of battery.

I use a glue gun that cost a fiver a couple of decades ago, it takes around a minute to warm up but seems to work ok afterwards, has tech moved on with modern more expensive guns?

To stop the glue leaking out if you pull the glue stick back slightly when you're leaving it idle or when you've turned it off it won't dribble out.

Slight hijack...are there any especially good stronger glue sticks?

I have one of these and find it very good.

The thinner metal nozzle really helps in situations I often use it, stuff like reasonably accurately putting glue on wires and small connectors to hold them in place when RC stuff (like quadcopters) crash and so on.

I've also got a Ryobi cordless glue gun.
It takes ages to heat up and seems to have no thermostat.
It just keeps heating the glue hotter and hotter.
Yes there's no trailing cable, but the 240v Bosch corded gun it replaced heated up quicker and was easier to control.

I guess it depends on the usage, as you can get a range of sizes which take either hobby size, medium, or socking great big, glue sticks.

Bostik guns seam all right for a mid-size reasonable spec jobbo.
