Pawn?

Unfortunately I think it looks exactly how I’d imagine a footballer’s taste to be.

TBF he was only renting it. Previous footballer owners are responsible for the decor. Suspect Jürgen Klopp either has very good taste or DGAF. Either way his own place would be much more charming

Elswhere in the Guardian property pawn section

I like the setting and the architecture. Decorative choices a bit greige and twee for me but thats superficial. I could see myself falling up those stairs when pissed.

No garage space unfortunately. Decent plot and additional land available so presumably could knock soething up

Did we have this a week or few ago, or was I looking at it on my D&G meanderings?

Seen the Haugh Of Urr place place before and I absolutely bloody love it, and the setting. The overall location isn't great for me but otherwise? Definitely pawn yes

Remember being impressed when it featured in the Scotland Home of the Year series. A bit toppy at £795k though

I remember the mill before that was built, and IIRC it was up for sale when I lived there as a pretty grotty old building for about £40k...now this was 1990's....

Looks very nice now... I think it may have been toned down a but from when it was on SHOTY? Is that the one that was all dark, and had the Harley under the stairs?

Yeah, that was it. Some of the interior was a bit pretentious

i'm not a fan. i like the idea but not the execution, the choices of materials and styles mainly.

Nice… but I guess the price is set by the 34 acres and salmon fishing rights.

Nice - from the outside the new bit melds nicely with the existing building. These old industrial buildings can translate nicely into "modern" (contemporary?) architecture, both externally and internally - you can go quite a way with it before the modernisation jars with the old stuff, as shown in this example.

The garaging situation could be remedied as mentioned in another reply. The downside is the third bedroom being downstairs - personally I'd have preferred three bedrooms upstairs (having two kids, you see).

It's absolutely massive. Same floor area as the barn conversion I'm in now and we have 6 'bedrooms' and 3 bathrooms. Despite this, looking at the plans there is very little scope for remodelling the inside. Now empty nesters and looking to downsize. This is the first appearance in 'property pawn' that me and the OH have agreed on

This is nicely done. Quite tall and bright for this style of building.

That's very nice, but it has too much open space for the foot print, I'd want the mezzanine bedroom enclosing, I'd leave the hall upstairs open to the ground floor but enclose the bedroom to create a bit more practicality (not everyone goes to bed at the same time) make the bedroom down stairs an office/snug and have the two bedrooms upstairs.

I like it though very much.

Yes it is.

I think I'd want to create some sort of lobby inside the front door though. I am not keen on a front door that empties into a reception room.

It comes with a garage too.

Prima facie not overly expensive.

I'd buy that in another 100 years, when the NHS (and the health of society at large) has collapsed and we've gone back to being around the height we were when that house was built...

I mean, look at the height of the doors!!

It was in the same series as me biggrin sold a few years ago by the owners at the time.

Its ridiculously expensive. And its a Semi. And it doesnt have a garage which is also insane.

But I just like it. The way it looks, the way the interiors are done.
