Expensive (but not for the area) quaint cottage with contemporary interior.

Not bad, then I saw the horror of photo 9 and 12. Spot it?

Iffy ceiling?
Nice bit of subsidence. In photos 11 and 12 you can see the second of the pair of diagonal cracks rising from the right side of the mantle as that corner of the house falls away...

Probably a bit left-field for PH but one of Henry Fords previous residences is for sale: https://www.carscoops.com/2022/06/henry-fords-home...

Doesn't look like they've changed the decor since Ford moved out, surely Ford could buy it and have it as some sort of museum.

Henry Ford was a bit of a strange one in many respects, when he started to make some serious money he had his childhood home rebuilt and restored as some sort of living museum.

Some issues with the owners of this if I remember. Also cove is about 2 miles from Coulport so at least you’d be vaporised instantly if there was any accidents or a nuclear strike.

is it subsidence though - or just the look of a 300 y/o house, wonky A/F everywhere?

Most likely this. Having lived in a 500 year old house there are crack and sags and wonkiness everywhere, we even had weeds growing through one of the walls at one point. Needless to say that 20 years later the house is still there and could take an extension being put on the side of it.

I walk past this one regularly, beautiful position, but no direct parking. When the tide is out you could drive from the adjacent car park with a 4x4 along the beach to the bottom of the steps..... No good for PHer's though!!!

And there was me thinking the issue was that the piano was a bit too close to the radiators to stay in tune for long. This is why I’m not a surveyor…

The one in 11 could easily be a surface electrical cable painted over. We have a couple of those running over beams etc and painted the right colour you really can't see them unless you are looking hard.

On a property that old is it much of a concern, if at all?

Not really. Any and all electrics were added a very long time after the structure was built ( towards 400yrs in our case) so running them in the surface isn't that surprising. We've had a few buried and a few boxed but there are a few left. At least you can't drill through them quite so easily!
