I have a king-size bed and use a double duvet normally, though revert to a king-size when it's really cold. I find anything much wider than the bed starts to fall down one side or the other.

you'll find that much of northern Europe use two singles rather than one large - however where's the fun in that?
Well said. Bed time is about cuddling up and two separate duvets is about as appealing as separate bedrooms. Just get a duvet you can cuddle up under together.
However there is one notable side-effect of this: children. hehe
Ah! So that's how they happened.

I've a US King bed (76" by 80") and use an oversized 106" by 96" duvet.

Plenty big enough, neither of us wake up to find the H has stolen it completely (which would be quite a task, given the size and weight of it!).

And warm too, which is just as well, seeing as it snowed last night and was -8c this morning.
