Most of the kids on my road need muzzles, little bds, and the cat that uses my garden as a toilet is living on borrowed time. My Staffies on a good note just sleep most of the day in their comfy chair and then walk around the garden with no interest in biting anyone. And yes you are a ball bag, sir smile

Horrible dogs like Staffies etc should have to be muzzled and on a lead anywhere in public. I think its a bit pointless for a tiny dog thats on a lead to have to be muzzled - its easy to keep a little dog under control when it can't overpower you.
here we go the on the staffies rolleyes "dick"

The OP has clearly never owned or spent any time around a dog. Almost all of them are lovely, and the ones that aren't are entirely the owners fault. You are far more likely to be randomly attacked by a human than a dog, and I imagine you wouldn't suggest that all humans should wear straightjackets and muzzles when they are out and about.

OP, if you're pursuing a vendetta could you add my neighbours to the list?

I reckon a muzzle, lead and electronic tag would improve those bellends immensely.

They're capable of killing or seriously injuring people. imo they should be muzzled when out in public. I'm not saying only staffies should be muzzled... i'd apply that to any large dogs or ones with potential to harm people/other dogs.

Or we could just keep letting them do stuff like this: (all Staffie related)

Why do you insist on winding up good pet owners on this forum. I really don't get it.

Do you really think we need to see these pics that we are not aware. The problem is this breed is picked mercilessly by the press and there are lots and lots and lots of them and unfortunately many not so responsible pet owners are attracted to them. If the same types found labs appealing the lab would become the ousted breed.

Believe me labs and retrievers are also extremely dangerous when they turn.

People have killed more people than dogs have.

We should totally ban people.

Again, I'm not saying Staffies should be treated any differently to other big/strong dogs - they should all be muzzled and on a lead in public.

What do you class as a big strong dog?

If you are going to go down this route of only muzzling one group you need to state the requirements in more detail.

I do not agree with your idea as you have it at the mo.

Sure, however the 'problem' dog owner - read that as thieving gyppo - doesn't give a toss about the law, and never has.

What you're advocating won't curtail the activities of people like that.

However it will unfairly restrict the freedoms of responsibly-owned dogs to run free and do what dogs 'do'.

Dogs, in all their muddy, smelly, waggy-tailedness enrich our lives. Clearly, you don't understand that.

Either specific breeds, or specific size/weight amounts - it wouldn't be hard to do would it?

No, I do understand that - I have two dogs myself.

Restricting the freedom of responsible dog owners is unfortunate but there are lots of laws that have to be applied to those who wouldn't have caused any problems, to deal with the asshole minority who would have.

What about religion, politics, disability, human rights, sport, the benefit system, fat people, public transport and immigration.

Where do you stand on those issues?

Fat, immigrant gays getting married and living on benefits.

If your view of your dogs is that they are too dangerous to be trusted anywhere and you need to muzzle them out in public at all times because they might kill anything that moves, please put your dogs up to your breed rescue.

I trust my dog, he is a Cocker Spaniel, so gentle he lets the rabbit run rings round him, the cat steal his food and plays beautifully with my toddler nephew.

I walk him both on and off the lead dependent on where we are, and he is always called to heal when other people are using the same public space, around unknown young children he is always put back on his lead, not because I don't trust him, but because I am aware that a bouncy puppy can be overwhelming to a small child, they are always given the opportunity to make a fuss of him and give him a treat.

This is my first dog, even as a child I had virtually no interaction with any, I hated dogs barking and jumping at me, I also have an extreme displeasure of dog st in public spaces, so when I made the decision to have a dog, I also made an effort to train him to be the way I wanted him to behave, in just over a year of ownership I've not needed to scold him or shout at him, he is discouraged from barking. He is a complete sop, you can give him his favourite treat and he will give it straight back if asked.
